Let's see your FJ case swap

I did the same as others, plug from a prerunner. But this only applies to 05-11 because the 12-15 incorporated the 4wd switch into the dash. You’d need a whole new surround for about $150, so a little less worth it.

 

You know what, I'll just leave it there.So many more things to do.

update: the FJ MT shifter (not pictured) won’t got in reverse when installed.

 

Did you do all this work in flip flops?

 

Lol I had shoes on. That was my buddy that helped me with lifting the t case

 

As for the FJ MT shifter not letting me go in reverse, the only thing I can think of is this part is a different part number than what’s on my Tacoma



other than that the transmission should be identical, right? The FJ MT shifter would work perfectly if it would shift in reverse

 

I got my FJ shifter used and it came with the base plate. I had not thought about that. Nor thought that they would be different. Hell the RA60 and RA61 are the some other than the internal 6th gear ratio. Have you tried to remove and reinstall?

 

yeah I took the Tacoma one out, and put the FJ one in fine. Installed perfectly. Gears 1-6 were flawless but would not go into reverse. It was like going against a wall. Then I put the Tacoma one back in and reverse was there, easy like it should be. Then I tried the FJ one again and no reverse.

I ordered the base plate. Hopefully it’ll be here tomorrow at the local dealer.

This’ll do just fine. I could’ve sewed it for an even nicer appearance but this is a happy medium of appearance and ease of install. This is the $10 boot linked at the bottom of the page. It’s a surprisingly close match to the factory boot color.

 

It's like your shift boot has a stiffy...

 

I got the ADD switch harness I got from 12th state off road hooked up but the switch doesn’t illuminate. I can hear the ADD engaging and disengage when I push it but I want it to light up. It’s wired how they sent it to me.... Any one have any ideas?

 

Yikes, all that money for cheap uninsulated terminals, that’s a ashame. Not sure what switch they use but it could be the switch or could be your limit switch is bad. Check the voltage at each side of the switch terminal with the ADD engaged and disengaged.

 

Swapped input shafts back today and removed the adapter from the auto one. Should be ready to bolt up now when the trans gets here, just need to modify the crossmember and cut a hole in the floor

Yess, guilty as charged there lol. Didnt have a plastic tip for the end of the tube so things got a little out of hand

@BassAckwards I know you have been following a few of the same threads as myself. So, my CM hydro bearing went out, so......... I ordered the RC62F and I will mate the AWD case I have laying around to it.
I can't wait!
