Just bought this, currently being shipped. The previous owner said it was a heavy bike, but looking at the shipping label I see that the weight is about 65lbs. Seems pretty heavy for a DH bike, are they normally this heavy? Use to ride back in the day but it’s been a few years so I’m not super familiar.

Now I’m trying to find a rack strong enough to hold it, and another ~35lb bike. If anybody has any recommendations let me know!

65 lbs is probably with all the packing material. The bike probably weighs ~40lbs and the box/packaging is probably 15lbs

Got to ride today, took it easy after trying to recover from the 2nd Pfizer shot. I was jacked up for like 5 days!

That’s what I figured, especially since the bike has the carbon mode frame. Previous owner said it was 65lb for the bike, but guess I’ll have to wait and see.

Going back to the bike rack discussion from a couple weeks ago. Since the 1Up racks are currently unavailable I got a Rocky Mounts Driveshaft mount that attaches to the bed rail. I mounted it upside down, right side up hits the metal piece above the bed rail and leaves a gap. Gave it a proper test heading to Soquel Demonstration Forest.

Rim Rock to Thatcher in Skyline (Napa) is no joke. Holy hike a bike. But the views and the descent down is worth it.

Your food pic made me laugh because of the background. You are like me and I never let my bike out of my sight locked or unlocked.

that's the only way to be perfectly sure your bike is safe.

    Two things.

    1. In n out is life.

    2. Do you use any locks on your 1up? When you run into the store for a couple minutes?

Do you bother with any chains to secure the frame?

No chains around the frame. But I never have the bike out of my sight. If I have to go into the store for any length of time and I can't keep my bike in sight, I take both wheels off and put the bike in the bed under the locking tonneau cover (it's a hard cover).

I've really enjoyed my ESI grips for this. A little dirt goes a long way for grip!

    ...so what was worse?

I get my 2nd Pfizer shot in a couple of weeks and I’ll let you know how I react. First one felt like a sledgehammer to my arm.

I had no issues with either, but I did “feel” the first one more.
