    Happy final Saturday Porch!:pccoffee:

1.86" to add yesterday, with 4.07" overall the two days mean not a lot done outside. Stuff to do today though! Did get a peek of sun yesterday morning, grabbed couple pix and went to Lowe's between storms. Our very first oranges! Flowers will lead to lemons. And the lime still isn't saying anything. Oh, the first Roma tomatoes of the season.20210501_161242.jpg

    I appreciate the encouragement. Thanks

48 degrees here and my main squeeze and I sat outside to drink our coffee and watch the hummingbirds. It never fails to amaze me how those little suckers migrate so far over the Gulf of Mexico. Last night we saw the first bats and felt the bite of the first mosquito. Mosquitos and bats go together, and I hope the bats get really busy gaining weight on mosquito flesh.

Somebody coming to look at one of the trucks we have for sale so the drive to Cathedral Valley will have to wait. Maybe tomorrow. I love having no schedule and no rules. Yay retirement!!!

    Evening all:
 Should have listened to my own advice!
Jim got the 600 .35 Remington and a 600 6.5 Rem Mag. for fair prices, I picked up another 660 6.5 Rem. Mag that I don't need!
Thought the prices would be outrageous, but for the most part they were within reason.
I also bid on the new TC Hawken FL, but stopped at $350, it sold for $450. It was the newer one with the better frizzen and improved lock, last price I saw on them after they stopped making them was $850, so someone who really wanted one got a pretty good deal.

OH! Jim and his BIL went out last night for walleyes and put 11 in the boat in about 4 hrs., looks like it might be game on for awhile!

Thanks for the warm welcome! It seems like a fun group of seasoned gents. I spend most of my days working on this old farmhouse or whatever is falling apart at the time. We have a few acres where we have 4 cows, 4 mini donkeys.1 pot belly pig, 1 cat, & 2 dogs. one of the dogs is a Boxer puppy and she is a hand full.IMG_1935.jpg

A couple of months ago I heard that all the Las Vegas casinos were stocking up on lobster because Covid had killed the market and they were going for $5 a pound. I tried to get my local grocer to check on it and order me a hundred pounds, but he was unable to get any. Maybe what I heard was bullshit, but at $5 a pound I would have bought a hundred pounds of lobster and ate it until I was sick...LOL

Our local grocery chain (we only have one) just put in a fish monger last year, so when I looked up a saw I could grill some crab with the tenderloins, I had to try! Lobsters still better (and easier). But it was fun.

Nice rifles. I can buy guns here but finding ammo is the hard part. Here in Northern California the ammo shelves are almost bare. In 2 weeks we are taking a road trip through Nevada and up into Idaho and hope to restock my ammo supply’s in Nv or Id. How’s ammo supply in your area?

foush56, welcome to the porch. Nice pic. Looks like some place in either Utah, Nevada or Arizona???

    Good morning, everyone!!

I was able to get both the front and rear porches stained - two coats on the back and one on the front. The composite decking we have on the front is super easy to maintain and one coat had it looking brand new.

Not sure what I'll do today. Rain forecast for the afternoon and showers for the next week pretty much.

    Be safe out there!!

Good Morning Folks. Another week has come and as Mark said it's going to be a rainy one.

I have the same problem Carl. I call it "my kid in the candy store" time. I can't walk into a tool store or gun shop without making a purchase. Do I need it...NO ...do I want it ...YES. :D

Hope you hit the river with a good catch. Enjoy.

Lovely dinner Kurt. How did the crab turn out cooking it on the grill? Never done that. We always steamed ours. Glad you and your wife had a great anniversary.

Down in my area, we are in the same situation with ammo. Some rifle calibers are available in limited quantities but pistol calibers are either non-existent or really expensive. Fire arms are plentiful (although even the prices on them has gone up. I guess what ever the people are willing to pay.) Hope you can stock up on your trip. I discovered that in North Carolina if you are an out of state person you cannot purchase ammo. I don't know if or how many other states require residency to purchase ammo.

Have a great day and be safe folks.

    Morning all:
All ammo is hard to come by around here also, and pistol ammo is as Ken stated. Yesterday that sale had a lot of stuff that people are looking except powder, there were bricks of 100 and 500 .22's, both large and small rifle primers, large and small pistol primers, and shot gun primers, some of the primers were in bricks of 1000, boxes of loaded rifle shells and brass for loading in some hard to find calibers, and some boxes of shotgun shells including 10 Ga., one guy bought a lot of the primers, the 1000 bricks were going for around $140.

Nice looking Tacoma. I do not frequent the rest of the forum too often but when I first purchased my Tacoma and was modding it to suit my needs the youngers guys would call your Tacoma a Storm Trooper. You did a marvelous job with modding your Tacoma. Well done indeed.

Monday and more rain in the forecast. Need to do a quick grocery store run this morning. An old friend is dropping by to drop off a worn out American flag. She knows I can dispose of the flag properly.

Going to Spatchcock a chicken and cook it on the Smokefire for dinner. There is a feature on the grill called Smoke boost. When the feature is activated the grill cools down to 200 degrees and pumps a few extra pellets into the grill for added smoke. Did some ribeye's like that last night and they were delicious.

    Good morning all,

Ammo for sure is hard to get around here but guns - not so much just pricey.

Yesterday started out warm so once our family Zoom was over headed to ACE to get grass seed for the septic area. Spread it out then put straw over it (light layer) then after dinner it started to rain, by the time I went to bed it was changing to snow. Woke to 4" of heavy (midwest) wet snow, supposed to end sometime tonight - temp is at the perfect range for this - 32 now then maybe up to 35 so snow all day - it snows in the low 40's due to altitude here sometimes. Best I could ask for with the new grass seed, the ground is warm and very wet - good stuff. Inside work today.

Have a great day and be safe

Happy First Friday Porch People! Supposed to be a mostly HOT and nice day. Showers late or tomorrow AM? They don't know, and we got plenty! Hoping to hear about Little Big Red here in a few - left a message Friday, but forgot to check before he closed.

Crab on the grill, Ken? - there were about 100 recipes, time and heat ranging from "briskit slow" to "sear me now!". I took the medium high heat, for the same 6-8 minutes the steaks were on, and only the tiniest of the legs were too done. Could have separated a little more, or put it on the warmer rack, but the big parts were all good. So, it's a feel free to try that one anytime! (Still get more goodies with less work with Lobster!)

Ammo? Only got one gun - a 380 pistol I got for the wife to make her happy at Christmas two years ago. Haven't seen ammo in a store since! Academy has two aisles with a sign - "only two per customer". I think they mean only two signs.....

    Have a good week everyone!

Well, here is a new one. Called the shop after opening this morning to check on the truck. Got a recording, it was the wife's voice, they are "closed indefinitely due to a family emergency." I left a message, and sent a text later on, asking for any update when they can, and hoping everyone is OK. Can't say that's ever happened before, but I have nothing to do but wait the outcome. Bizarre circumstance!

    Good morning everyone!!!

Ammo is tough to get all around. The police academy at my old college is struggling to get the ammo they need to qualify the trainees. Scary stuff.

I power washed the porch furniture yesterday and then pulled the painter's tape from both the front and back porches later in the day. I also got the water turned on and the filter uncovered at the pool so they guys can get it open this week.

Not sure what today holds....but life is good.

    Be safe!!
