Edit- looks like somehow this got selected as a Pro mine is an OR. Still valued over what I paid just not over as much.

Just logged into Credit Karma to look over things, as I occasionally do. I looked the Car portion and it says my Truck has increased $4800 since last month…. current value is about 6k more than I paid new. Not sure how that can be??? I mean I know the used market is hot but seriously?

Truck has just under 40k miles and is paid off. I also have a lift, skids, wheels, and lights installed. I figure it’s worth $50,000 cash easy, any takers??

Hahaha. I kid, I wouldn’t sell this truck for 50k but man used prices are NUTS! Anyone else seeing things this extreme?

I checked caravana yesterday and they offered 36k for my 2019 off road MT.. that is what I paid for it.. it is tempting but I still need a car... I would seriously think it if I were working from home but not my case...

Welcome to “Asset Inflation”. When governments print endless money, the resulting inflation in prices often starts with items the banks loan money against. Namely housing and automobiles. The newly printed money finds its way into the market this way. This inflation is typically tempered by raising interest rates, but that is not what is happening in 2021. It’s kinda a perfect storm which only benefits those who already have the assets. If you already have a house and a Tacoma, thank your lucky stars. If you don’t, you only have the benefit of low interest rates on the sky-high prices, that could ruin you if they were to rise.

    Good times!

Anyone know if this is a more regional based thing. I put in my 2019 OR premium pckg with 40k and they offered me 29.5k on carvana.

Not sure but you can try Vroom and Carmax. That or a different zip code. Not sure if that will work but it’s worth a shot.

I mean I don’t have much interest in trading/selling was just curious. Just a little baffling even if it’s a different site that OP has an offer 10k over mine and it’s 2 years older. Not questioning OP as I’ve seen the prices people have been offered for used in the carvana thread.

Well the truck the OP has on the CK app is showing a TRD Pro and not an Off Road so that could be a big variant on there.

I’ve put my truck into all 3 out of curiosity and they differ by about $3k-$4k messing around. This also got me into buying a new one as I will be getting way more than I paid for my truck to begin with and will allow me to get into a new one for same payments as I make now.

Amen, We have three cars and a home, and really anything We could want. Unfortunately we also have retirement accounts that I fear won’t track with inflation and that scares the hell out of me. This truly is a terrifying time.

I don’t know how it got selected as a Pro but you’re right. I just did KBB and it’s values the private party sale at 39k and trade in at 35. Still I only paid 35k when it was new. Not bad. Crazy times!

Yeah, I wish I had the papers now, but supposedly, dealer offered me a "guaranteed" offer of $28K for my 2015. TRD Sport (no trade in necessary).

I just got it late in 2020, so still owe $$$, but took me over a year to find it (unmodified, low mileage, and full maintenance records to boot). Don't think I'll find another anytime soon if at all, and 2018+, which is earliest after 2015 I'd consider to replace what I have, is only other truck I'd likely consider. Their at even crazier prices:crazy:. So, can't see pulling the trigger on it. We'll see where we land in another 4-10 years, I'm sure I'll get my money's worth from what I have already.

Indeed man unfortunately just like the housing market it only works if you aren’t just selling to buy something else. Although Tacoma’s seem to be a peg above others still in the used vehicle market. Enjoy your new found riches!

Warren Buffett could just buy up all the Tacomas, hold them a few months and sell. Better return than the stock market.

Tacomas and the big lego sets are very sound investments.

A vw beetle I bought 7 years ago sells for $800 new in the box now. If I had the foresight I would have bought 5 of them since they were all on markdown at the lego store. Get them graded and stuck in acrylic boxes in my temperature controlled walk in closet.

2019 SR5 DCLB - my value based on my inputs... $37k.... I paid less than that and owe wayyyy less than that. Are these offers real? or do you end up getting screwed over in the fine print.
