Hey Tacos. Wow there sure are a lot of catalytic converters underneath my truck!! California PreRunner chocking hazard. Can we eliminate them to any benefit? What I wanna do is run straight of the headers into a 3” y-pipe,{install a single larger cat that is removable 2 mins after smog check and replaced with straight pipe}, continue with 3” into modest muffler then side exit. Do we have to have ALL the oxygen sensors? Any off-road racers out there with experience in this? I want my street legal daily to have a 45min alter ego Baja Racer!

You'll probably gain very little other than obnoxious sound. On a stock induction system atleast

You can have your catalytic converter removal done for free by leaving the truck in San Bernardino for a few days.

We have catalytic converters for a reason. Leave the exhaust alone and don’t be that annoying person with a fart rocket exhaust

    Stock truck would never benefit.

As mentioned they sound awful straight piped as well.

Personally I can't stand the smell either.

    Totally illegal in most states.
O.P. buy yourself a pre 70 truck if you want headers and no cats.

You purposefully want to convert your truck into a poisonous gas emitter. :der: :smack:

No benefits to elimination, only problems.

Today's engines are tuned to run with the CATS. Also, better for everyone's lungs.

All these dudes talk a big game. But I bet none of them spend their days exhaling their breath through a choked up tampon with an electrode stuffed into the side. It's really cruel what we do to these Tacoma's. Gotta be a better way to let them breath.

Yeah because society hasn't been breathing thru masks for the past year or so..............

Earlier converters [like back when you were born] were pretty lousy, the past 20 years, they breathe pretty decently, especially with low HP engines like are found in the Tacoma. We aren't talking 500-600 HP monsters here. Then again, if Dodge can get 7-850 ponies out of a cat converted engine in their Hellcats and Demons and remain smog legal, maybe cats just aren't much of a problem at all anymore when it comes to HP and remaining legal.

Now replacement costs.............yeah, those can be a bit hard to swallow.

Catalytic converters are a Federal emissions device and illegal to remove in all states. That said, if you live somewhere that does not conduct annual smog checks then no one would be the wiser.

Catalytic converters aren't just thrown on vehicles like an afterthought, they are integrated in the design process so when you start modify the sensors or cat you usually start throwing codes, then you start posting on Tacoma World how do you get rid of those codes.

I had my cats involuntarily removed, replaced with OEM parts but if it happens again they'll be replaced with a y pipe. If the politicians are going to allow lawlessness and not punish theft then I'll stop contributing my cats.

Have you ever spent any amount of time in a scummy country where people just shuffle through life ignorant to how the world can operate ? Their streets all smell like death exhaust fumes because they don’t give a crap about smog rules . When you walk along the side walks it smells like a classic car show where everybody is running super rich. When you are stuck in traffic, you have no escape but to breath in all that exhaust for no Reason at all. Mexico City , Shanghai, Baghdad... all smell the same . Any time I’m behind some “tuner” Subaru or lancer car here in the USA you can instantly tell that scum deleted his cat based off the smells . Cool bro . you got super fast race car, you win. You are best car!
It’s like farting in the elevator, but instead of getting off you also smell it as you torture all others . Thanks bud.
