I purchased this lock kit for my 2021 SR. Watched a bunch of the videos and in all of them there is a wiring harness already installed that runs down the underside of the passenger side of the car that the lock harness gets wire-tied to.

I don’t see that harness on mine and wondering if anyone did this. Did you just wire tie the lock harness to the frame and other parts down that side?

Hoping someone’s done it before I tackle this....

Did you remove the plastic trim piece?
I just did my 17 Limited on Friday with the OEM kit. The only issue I had was getting the tailgate cover aligned correctly so the T30 screws went back in place correctly.

The SR5’s had the main harness running down the drivers side, at least my 2020 did when I installed the lock kit. The SR’s are probably the same way. Just find places along the frame to secure with zip ties when running the wiring to the tailgate.

I removed the sill and there is another harness in there but doesn’t go to back of car. Will probably be a few days before I get to it now... thanks for taking the time to reply!

Sounds like a plan. Thought maybe if someone had done it already I might take advantage of any issues they ran into... thanks for the reply!!

The connection is meant for the passenger side door lock/unlock. On the driver's side is a bit different (wire/circuit wise). Just run it attached to the frame on the passenger's side.

Yeah definitely run it on the passenger side. Should have clarified that. I ran mine on the passenger side.

So I have a 2020 SR double cab I haven't looked on the passenger side for a harness yet sounds like I should. Mostly like I don't have it where do I go from here?

You buy the tailgate lock and you get the "missing" harness:burp:

My 2021 is on order but I've already bought the lock kit. I watched a YouTube video and the actual connection point is behind the passengers kick plate (vertical plastic trim piece in front of passengers door). The pass-thru hole is back under the floor matt just behind the passengers seat. It's not as close to the door as you would think it would be.

2021 SR5. I just ran mine through the frame. I put a zip tie occasionally but it is not going anywhere because you have to feed it through the circle holes every so often in the frame channel. There is no way it's coming out. I tried to run it outside on the top of the frame, but it was visible from the passenger wheel well and it was so ugly. Nice and clean look hidden inside the frame.

Just installed the OEM power tailgate lock.Really a simple upgrade. One thing I hadn’t seen in any of the post that I did. There just isn’t much room between the tailgate and the body to get the new gaskets installed. I removed the right side of the tailgate so I could swing out the tailgate. This gave me plenty of room.
