Drives me nuts that people are still confusing them when they literally have nothing in common.

Having worked at a Ford dealer and being the guy who was installing trailer hitches and wiring I can assure you that people will be buying these to tow. I can’t tell you how many times people would buy a vehicle without out tow package and think their explorer was capable of towing 5k, or buy a base model F150 with the NA 3.5L and think they can tow as much as a 3.5L ecoboost with a tow package. Then they’d pay to have a hitch out on and still wonder why it can’t tow as much as the middle with a tow package. So glad I got out of that business. With covid and people buying campers galore, I’m sure every idiot and their brother is out buying 25ft camper and thinking their bronco sport will be able to tow it fine fully loaded up.

Sure, there's lots of stupid people out there. Doesn't mean that's how it should be though.

Wrong and wrong. Probably 50% have concerns about payload and/or towing. It's absolutely a great small, cheap (if you don't go crazy ordering the option packages), offroad SUV right off the lot. But I bet my bottom dollar the aftermarket for stronger rear coils will get a lot of attention. I bet there will be a lot of interest for a rear swaybar, airbags, ClassIII hitch.

People are giddy about the Bronco and rightfully so, but I bet as it evolves we'll see Ford enhance it from a one-dimensional offroader to something more versatile. The dimensions and offroadability doesn't have to change much, but it's ridiculous to pair a Ranger frame with turbo engines and then limit tow capacity to 3500lbs with a shitty ClassII hitch.

If you're happy with the purchase that's a good thing. I can't justify it since I have one of the best 4Runners IMO, '08 4.7l Limited 4WD, has only 114k miles on it. Toytec Boss lift kit, airbags, tows 5klbs through the Colorado Rockies (somewhat) easily. Stock payload and cargo volume is better vs Bronco, does fine offroad with A-TRAC. Flat cargo floor instead of that goofy 4" rise in the Bronco.

If I had to choose between a 2021 Bronco Sasquatch vs a 2021 4Runner Pro I would go with the Bronco, no doubt about it. There is a lot of bang for the buck with a Base Sasquatch, I priced a 4-dr 2.7l with full-time 4WD at $43k, that's a great price point for what you get.

Irritating those Ford bums don't have the tow package on the Base. It's not a great tow package but it has a 4/7 pin factory.

Nobody confuses a Wrangler with a Renegade because the Wrangler is the Wrangler and the Renegade is the Renegade. Giving two completely different vehicles the same name, like Ford has done, is a move designed to result in confusion.

Also, I just can't get into the Bronco. It's presumably very functional, but it's just kind of ugly. Reminds me of an H2 from some angles.

Maybe, but did it have a removable top or did it say SPORT on the back of it?

In Maine, Still looking forward to see a New Bronco in person . I think I've already seen more Bronco Sports in the short time they've been out vs all the New Ford Rangers over the last few yrs.

Yeah, it was a sport. So what? I've seen pics of the full size and my statement stands.

    one reason I don't want a Jeep
    despite...wanting a Jeep...

Taco said to tow better/up to 10k lbs
it's not gonna be powerful like a diesel, and might have small brakes (can be upgraded bigger) but still

Isn't more needed to tow than just adding a hitch?
    -additional trans cooler if automatic
    -maybe bigger brakes
am not counting electric brake controller because that's kind of expected and only needed when pulling trailers that have brakes on them

Tacoma isn’t rated to tow 10k. It’s under 7k with the towing package. Tow packages are different for every vehicle. Some have an added oil cooler, or trans cooler or both. Electric trailer brakes are pretty much standard now. Most vehicles have adequate brakes from factory. I think Tacoma should have 4 wheel disk brakes vs rear drum. Especially for towing, but Toyota decided otherwise.

Car and Driver now citing the Bronco as having been a little underrated in power. Apparently it will now make 415 lb/ft torque with the 2.7l.
    https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a36382845/2021-ford-bronco-power-increase/

So it look like you might be able to get a Bronco that weighs about the same as a Tacoma with more torque than my Tundra and a 4.7 final drive ratio.

Might have to add another toy to the stable. :burnrubber:
