Hello! A minute new to this forum! I will be introducing myself in the new member forum shortly :). I'm loving all the friendly banter already!

My husband just recently purchased his Tacoma (a month ago) and has been quickly modifying it. I would love to get him something for it as his birthday is quick approaching. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

What's the budget? We can get pretty pricey real quick.

We defiantly need a budget range, 5.29 gears would be a pretty sweet but that's like 3k in my neck of the woods. I would recommend the KDMAX tune for 325 just look in this thread for a tuner in your area and send them a PM. KDMAX

Looks like he swapped to a "Pro" grille with the TSS sensor.

I don't see a light bar but it looks like he has the LED headlamps which are already dummy bright.

An amber bar and or fogs with their own switched circuit would be a great addition as I learned recently the OEM LEDs are so bright and white that you can be dust blinded at night off road.

Something yellow and low down with a good cut off would be ideal for improving visibility in dust at night.

If you go with pods or fogs familiarize yourself with @crashnburn80 's fog light testing thread.

Do no get ones that will blind other drivers.

    Don't be that guy.

Man. You guys are REALLY helpful. I would say I don't mind making payments if it's something that makes a huge difference. He would probably like tires bc I bought that for him for his last car.

I don't know anything about 5.29 gears or KDMAX tune. I would definitely have to trust you guys about it. Are car things, things you can buy and return if he doesn't want it, or do I pretty much have to be sure he wants it?

The light bar would go under the grill. Looks like this.

All this is stuff you would have to make sure he wants.

    Especially gears given the expense.

Gears are pointless unless you're getting big tires, and you can't fit big tires unless you get a lift and do a cab mount chop, better backspaced wheels, and upper control arms.

So I'd hold off on any of that for now.

Let's start much simpler and a LOT cheaper that regearing and lifts.

Do you have a rubber bed mat?
    Or all weather floor mats?
Any need for a tonneau cover?

I also installed a cold air intake from K&N. It makes the truck louder at higher RPMs, but helps normalize the throttle response.

    Agreed...

    Good advice!
Something useful for any vehicle is a dash cam. i like the dual channel ones (records front and rear) and they can be bought fairly cheap and pretty easy to install.

I would not want my wife to pick out accessories for my truck. If you get him something for his truck make sure it's specifically what he wants.

Get rid of the nasty stock knob. Cheap and easy mod that transforms the look and compliments the interior.
Part # PTR26-35060 - everything else you can do together, or he can do himself.

I’m also gonna echo to make sure it’s stuff he wants. I’d be bummed out for my SO that she worked hard to get me something only for it to be something that I never actually wanted… ie; dash cam, lifts, gears, etc…. nothing I actually want.
It’s all subjective, so if anything get him a gift card and then watch or talk to him about how he spends it, that way you’ll know for the future. Good luck! And I hope you both enjoy the truck and whatever your gift will be!
