3.4L supercharger

We have some pretty hot and cold driving conditions around here too. My air intake was running around 120° yesterday and I'm sure a snorkel would be helpful, (I installed one in my 2nd tacoma but that was a 2nd gen so we don't discuss)

 

I did notice a little overall decrease in IATs after my snorkel install which was welcomed.

 

NO, running a Toyota OEM corolla stat 170.

The aftermarket ones are crap for quality Including the URD stat

 

I was thinking of the TRD one, not URD... Was around back when TRD used to sell superchargers. Think it was a 170°. Don't see many of them around anymore

Kind of like how TRD used to sell a 7th injector kit like URD, pretty rare to find these days

 

I wonder if the old TRD 170° tstat Toyota used to sell was just a Corolla one the whole time

The URD one that cost 30.00 is the exact same one you can buy at advance auto for 15.00 and is a piece of junk, it failed on me 2 months later

I definitely learned a lesson on that last one. I'll definitely wear a seatbelt next time haha. I've never had anything other than naturally aspirated engines. I have a lot of learning to do

 

+1 for the Corolla thermostat. I won’t use an aftermarket one in any of my vehicles. OEM only. I can’t say whether it was the thermostat or the new radiator that cooled my truck down so much, but the change is quite welcome. I also have a Hayden trans cooler, but no scangauge to monitor temps

 

Didnt have problems with cooling the truck on the stock setup at any point, even in 110* heat. Replaced the radiator when it started leaking and went with one of the 3 core aluminum ones, not the botton of the radiator is lukewarm to the touch even after prolonged time at high rpm (3000). When I first did the swap, the bubbles made temps rise quite a bit, but when the tstat opened, it dropped very quickly.

 

Has anyone tried these new PSPE NGK ruthenium Hx plugs?
Made for Supercharged and turbo engines

Going to order a set and see how they run.

Do you happen to know if that T-stat will work on an 04? I put the URD 170 on and it still reads about 20deg higher. Thanks

 

Yes it will fit 04,

If it reads higher is because your radiator system is not at 100 percent or its just hot outside

 

In with the new RUTHENIUM technology ngk plugs and OUT with the old NGK 22k,
Truck definitely runs smoother,
NAPA caries these in stock 10.50 each

 

Does it run smoother because of the different plugs or does it run smoother just because they are new plugs?

 

I’m going to say it runs smoother and has more pep from the different type plug for sure.

The old plugs as you can see are still in pretty good condition

 

interesting, what made you decide to throw in these plugs?

 

They are a better design,
Newer technology and these plugs are made specifically for Turbocharged and supercharged engine
