@Uphillshunter @Blue Canary @essjay Looks like you all had an awesome day. I hope I can join you all the next time. Where did you hit the snow? Did you make it to 3N29?

    We made it to 3N29.

We hit snow on 3N01 (way out past the asphalt), 3N21, 3N94, and 3N26. But it was just patches.

The tree that finally stopped us, and turned us around was on 3N29. Not too far from 3N29C where you can go to a big pond they call Clear Lake. The tree was just too damned big for what time it was getting to be, how exhausted we all were, and the not knowing if we were just going to hit another tree around then next bend. The pictures don't even begin to tell the story. We cut so many trees, drug shit out of the way, picked shit up and moved it. It's an f'n war zone out there.

But, that's early season for ya.

When we go back out there, I'm making a B line to 3N94 so we get to that tree earlier (hopefully Forest Service will clear that one though, it's a bit much to try and clear without proper equipment)

Definitely did not expect to use my floor jack and Larry's bottle jack to lift up fallen trees, haha.

If we could have just gotten the top end of that piece of shit out of they way, so things would stop pinching up, I think we would have been able to section that tree out to roll manageable pieces out of the way.

Thanks for the intel. I'm planning a trip up there in a few weeks, maybe on May 22nd or 23rd. Maybe I'll see some of you up there, or if it corresponds with your next trip I can join you.

Right on, no problems. You're always welcome to join.

The area between Dodge Ridge and Hull Creek is where we spend a lot of our time up in the woods. I was trying to make it up to Bell Meadows, but that tree (and all the rest before it) cut the trip before we got up there. Not sure if Crabtree Rd is open yet, that would be a way to get in from the other direction. 3N96 off 3N01 (at Fahey Cabin) is another way to go up and around to get to 3N94.

Oof, my lower back and hips were complaining this morning. I figured it was from "Larry, assume the position." Lots of heavy wood (that what she said). We need to see a pic of the MacGyver shit we had going to get the saw free from that last tree.

According to the forest order 4N26 Crabtree is still closed until the end of May:

    upload_2021-5-3_10-38-36.jpg

My plan was to explore from Hull Creek campground North on 3N10 and 4N09 and then East on 3N29 to the Clavey and beyond since Crabtree is closed.

What do people think about a Saturday - Sunday trip to Niagara Rim Trail?

Throwing out dates of June 5th-6th (supposedly the weekend after 5N01 opens)

Exploring Long Valley and back to the back of Relief Reservior 1st day, camp along Long Valley Creek, and hit the full Niagara Rim as the way back out to 108.

Already got something planned for that weekend and for Father's Day the following week. Any chance you could do the 19th and 20th instead?
