You should be okay if conditions were clear no dust or rain.

Did you have the secondary filter in there when you drove it, or was that removed too?

Well I could be wrong, but I believe that should have protected you against anything major getting in the intake. Therefore you should be fine if it seems normal next time you drive it. (Just remember to install the air filter this time:p)

Yeah, it'll live. I wouldn't make a habit of it but it's not uncommon to take them off and run the engine for short periods to work on things.

Unless you drove through a dust storm, forget about it. Put it back in and try not to do something like this again. When I was young, I drove my Lotus Cortina around with out the air filters a bunch of the time, I thought it sounded cool. Crap two Weber side drafts sound better with the filters then without, but I was young. I put 200,00 miles on that engine, proly 75,000 with out the air filter and had no problems.

in 1998 this idiot kid i know got a brand new honda civic ex. he took the air filter out and cut the intake tube...and drove it that way for 15k until he crashed it.

i took the engine from him, put pistons in it to make it 12.3:1, built the head, tuned it, and it ran at that compression on pump gas for 70k until i swapped it 4/07. it ran fine when i swapped it.

totally unrelated to this thread other than the fact that the kid had the filter MIA for 15,000 miles, haha.

OP, no worries - you are fine.

Damn! I had no idea an engine would even survive without an air filter, let alone be driven around for long periods of time. I sure as hell am not going to run anything without a filter!

Ive had my K&N CAI fall off a few times and drove on the highway with it...

your fine. My truck acted like it was bogging down really bad nad had shitty throttle response. once I got home i poped the hood and saw the reason, put the filter back on and everything was fine.
