I think most of my car friends hate me for not giving a crap about "cool motor sounds". I actually hate that part most about most cars and even motorcycles. Like dude you're not cool at all. Your POS Subaru sounds like garbage or some kid just learning to play the trumpet all out of tune. I'm also sure most people hate motorcycles not because they are fast and reckless but because they sound so annoying and dumb. Not a single literate human on earth thinks the sound of a Harley is "bad ass" . It just sets off car alarms and makes people hate you. The only thing people think when they hear that shit is "oh overweight old guy with a goatee who thinks the moon landings are fake". Even camping out in the desert, middle of the night or early morning and you hear some dumb weed-eater sounding 2 stroke, brapppppppp brapppppppp "shut up man, you sound like the landscaping guys waking the whole neighborhood up ".

I'm totally down for speed, wheelies and sending it. Just with zero sound. You know how much more illegal shit you can get away with in an EV? You can probably engage in illegal street racing all night long and no one will bat an eye cuz we can't hear it . Also you can rip up and down your street or even the community park with your EV dirt bike without some concerned mom calling the cop! Also if any of you no imagination apes appreciates a clean quality sound systems in your car, you should try listening to it in an EV! Way way better sounding because you don't have all the sounds of that garbage gas engine + exhaust crapping all over your fav song. Imagine going to a concert and having a baby crying next to you...ya same thing.

Rear differential can even be eliminated by using a separate 3phase electric motor for each wheel making it the ultimate rock crawler and yes motors would be completely sealed.

It gets way better than that. Not only can you eliminate differentials all together (4 electric motor) so no need to waste money on lockers or re-gears or broken diffs but the transfer-case is also totally unneeded. Basically 90% of all the parts which can break on an ICE 4x4 (engine, transmission, t-case, diffs) are gone. The only thing which remains the same is the suspension, hubs/knuckles and CV axles.

 

If the motors are at the wheels no need for CV's.

I mean is the noise from the engine, or is it tire road/noise? A normal car with normal exhaust don’t make that much noise unless it is reved up to 5k or something.

No need to be a Debbie Downer. Price difference between various comparably equipped Toyota ICE only and Hybrid models is around $1500. Payback in fuel savings is 2 to 4 years depending on miles driven. No reason to think pickups will be any different.
