Quite a few things at this point..
Thought I'd put this out there in here as well in case some of you might be interested..

A friend and myself are planning to do the WABDR (Washington backcountry route) that goes from the border of Oregon/Washington to the border of Washington/Canada. Dates are June 19th-27th. We're stretching it out so that some stops we'll stay 2 nights.

People are welcome to join for part of it, or all of it.

I’ve actually never been up there, too river obsessed. Worth the trip?

I’m going to explore it next month. I’ve been all over the north side up towards Mt. Jefferson wilderness, but now that I have Gaia I’m going to check out the web of trails up on the ridge. If you get on the west side of the river there are some roads up to some shooting pits/buttes that have some of the most amazing views I’ve ever seen in the Cascades.

This looks interesting. I might be able to make it for part of the trip, perhaps Packwood to Nile depending on your schedule. Have looked at a few pictures of this path. If I understand the WABDR map, most miles are HWY 12, then splits off to Bethel Ridge etc. I am a basic Newbie. Have some basic recovery gear and deflator, compressor...but OEM tires/suspension. Would appreciate advice on if you think this do-able or not for my truck (a daily driver).

I think we are going over there the weekend of June 7th. Hoping there will be a Drake hatch, but if not I might swing for bullies. I’ll shoot you a reminder when it’s closer.

I did the Oregon backcountry route that goes South to North mostly stock and did just fine. From what I've read the Washington route is pretty similar in terrain and difficulty so I can only assume you'd be quite alright. My downloaded map for the route shows most miles are on service roads, very rarely will we travel on pavement. Basic recovery gear is all I'd expect to be needed, so you're probably good in that department.

If its weekend of June 7th, unfortunately I will be in Mississippi at that time. Bummer. Maybe next time.

I would be very surprised if Bethel Ridge (Highway 12 to Nile) will be passable that early in June. It is usually at least mid-July before most of that stuff opens up.
