Looking to tow a small uHaul trailer from Greenville to Charleston. We plan to get the small enclosed utility trailer and put a treadmill and Big Green Egg in it. Do you think I will have any issues doing this? I have a 2020 TRD Off road.

It'll be fine. Just load it heavier toward the front to prevent sway.

Be careful with the most important item... the Big Green Egg... lose the truck, lose the treadmill,
but don't mess with the Egg....

Towing should be a breeze.. but pack it and load it carefully. Will it not all fit in the bed ??

Stay in the right lane and go 65 max. Let people go around you. ECT on as well. I'd use double the distance when it come to braking as well.

    LOL

Na, the treadmill and Egg will not both fit, at least not in a way I'm comfortable with.

I’m sorry, is this a serious thread on towing about 3k pounds?

Yea, it sure is, from someone who has not towed anything with their Tacoma yet, and also someone who doesn't tow much to begin with. So do you have any other questions?

I do not no. Your manual states 6800# towing capacity, not sure how 3k pounds is even questionable.

You can tow that trailer with Ford Escape.

Worked for the DOT in SC for years and had a Tacoma as my work truck. I've towed those 6000lb LED message board trailers around the state going 73 with ECT and 4S. Never had an issue besides wind.

The hills until you pass Columbia will be your biggest problem but I don't think you have too much weight behind you

Ceramic egg is life. Assembling one of those bastards was bad enough. Moving it will be a butt-clenching adventure.

I had to look up what a Big Green Egg was, expecting a kids outdoor play fort. I don't get about much... :anonymous:
I do know what a treadmill is -- an expensive giant gadget that ladies buy to hang clothing on.

OP: Read the towing section of your owners manual, take your time and be cautious. The truck has plenty of capacity for that job, you should be fine.

I wish I had the space to store the container mine came in. I would consider building a protective crate/cage around the shell for the move, lined with movers blankets. Firebox and lid can at least go in separate cardboard boxes and packed with styrofoam.

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
    @Tke226:
That rating is for a stripped V6 4x4. Watch your tongue load. Make sure you've got at least 10-12% of the loaded trailer weight on the tongue. Subtract that weight from the stated payload capacity on the door panel (the yellow one indicating any reductions). What's left is what the truck is rated for and includes passengers and all content. Tongue load counts as payload.
You are very likely okay BUT make sure that the load is well distributed and results in the recommended tongue load. Too light on the tongue and you WILL have side-to-side sway issues.

Have you every towed one? It's way too easy to load it so there little, if any, tongue load. Upon deceleration that trailer will start whipping side-to-side. It's not pleasant finding the trailer along side your tow vehicle.

Yes I did, it was loaded with furniture and tools. Honestly barely felt it, only when braking really. I also had stuff in the box and I live in a very hilly area. That’s why I’m a bit confused here.

A freaking Dodge Journey will pull that thing no problem, IMO of course.
