HPS Silicone Air Intake Hose - SOLD!

I had this installed for only about 1,000 miles before I purchased the S&B from another member on the forums. I was going to keep this but I'm clearing out my garage.

How much louder was it with this in and the ov tune? I already have the ov tune and have been considering getting this.

 

This tube does amplify the volume of induction noise, especially above 3500rpms and floored. After installing the TRD Intake Air Flow accelerator the induction volume decreased.
Induction volume, imo, has not changed with my 91 octane OV tune.

 

The engine sounds normal until you approach 3000rpm. Then you will feel almost like a power band kick in and the engine gets a growling sound to it.

 

Did the TRD Intake Air Flow accelerator improve performance or not?

 

I noticed right away that the induction noise was quieter, which is nice.
I live at 7000 and drive as low as 4000’ to over 11,000’ and my high elevation tuned butt dyno did not detect “gain” as it did with the HPS tube and the Green Filter both installed one at a time.

 

Any fuel economy improvement?

 

Wait a min...one reason these are installed is to increase the "growl" of the intake (increased volume of air and sound), right?

Just trying to follow...you installed the hose to increase sound and then installed another intake to reduce sound? Too loud for your tastes in the first place?

 

These have no muffler device in them. So yes they are louder. I had the S&B and every time the truck shifted on the freeway would sound like I'm flooring it. Got rid of the S&B and did the TRD intake. The TRD intake sounds stock to me. I really think the trd intake is just for looks. Especially if you had a K&N filter in your stock box. Really no difference in the TRD intake and stock box with K&N. Hope this helps people for sound info. Not speaking for HP gains. Not really sure that anything intake wise will do much.

1. Where did you get that? I did not install the HPS tube to make the induction louder.
2. Where did you get that? I did not install the TRD AIA to quiet induction.
