    I won't get into the all the HVAC current system shenanigans in our house we just moved into. But just want to ask. New propane furnace and heat pump.

    I want input on two manufacturers. Give me all you got. Good, bad, ugly.

    Carrier vs. Lennox?

    GO!

    @Pablo8

    Our house has all Lennox elite hvac and heater equipment thanks to the previous owners who bought the system at Costco and had it installed by a local company with new ducting and blown in attic insulation. I think it's a mini split system whatever that means. (The heater, indoor coil, and filter are in the attic.) I don't fully know all the lingo, but it's been running strong for 10 years without a hiccup.

    AC - https://www.lennox.com/products/heating-cooling/air-conditioners/xc16
    Mini split- https://www.lennoxpros.com/ch33-5060c-2f-indoor-coils-45-tons"-21""cased"/p/76L12?clear=true
    Gas Furnace - https://www.lennoxpros.com/sl280uh110v60c-furnace-gas110btuh5ton/p/55W58

    We recently added this Lennox air purifier with uv lamp as a replacement to the filters in our 20x30 and 20x20 returns:
    https://www.lennox.com/products/indoor-air-quality/air-purification/pureair

    It's rated Merv 16 (hospital grade) and utilizes a carbon/filter media with 2 uv lamps to help with sanitizing. It's definitely one of the best purchases we've made especially with our seasonal allergies and has substantially cut down on the amount of dusting/cleaning. I don't think I could live without it after having it for a year.

    How deep do you have to go to get below the frost line? That's way too shallow for these parts! :laugh:

    About 12" , we just needed to find undisturbed load bearing soil mostly. Foundation wall will be 4' tall , infill with heated slab

    walk out basements are pretty common on sloped sites here , this is a single story rancher for old people so no stairs . Will be heated slab on compacted infill after we pour the foundation walls

    Unless it's modular or mobile, most homes here have a basement. A totally dry basement is another story, without a French drain.

    We have to dig down 48" to get below frost anyway so you might as well put a basement in. :laugh:
