Manual locking hubs?

I still havn't found a front diff in 4:56.
So to be clear....If I find an add diff in 4:56, I can use the green (add) cv shafts or the blue (manual) shafts and hose clamp mod the diff?

If I find a manual front diff in 4:56, I have to use the blue manual CV shafts only?

I doubt you will find an add diff in 4.56. They only came in 4cyl auto trucks, every one I’ve seen has manual hubs. Cv shafts are the same on the diff side regardless of manual hub or add. The wheel side of the cv shaft is different as is the hub

Yea, ive been searching for 4 cyl toyota trucks and some 4 runners. I have no time frame on my conversion and have complete manual hubs and spindles ready to go in.

I'm not willing to regear the rear atm as I have a powertrax no slip

The wheel end of the cv axle, as described above, isn't threaded on the manual hub cv axle. Which would mean the ADD cv axle end is, and requires a nut to hold it in place versus a snap ring and manual hub body.

I just watched a vid on a 4runner where the guy had a jshift and converted to manual hubs with his og green shafts after doing the c clamp mod to the front diff.

You're not listening.

Tacoma ADD and 4Runner ADD are identical and use the same setup.

Ignore transfer cases as you can have a j shift or push button with ADD cv axles.

With that being said, you can use an ADD diff tube with either manual hub cv axles or ADD cv axles. Reason being, the diff ends on both cv axles are the same.

On the wheel end, as I stated earlier, they are different. @eon_blue also mentioned that manual hub cv axles are skinnier, and again, are not threaded which means they can only accept manual hubs on the wheel end.

Not only that, the axle hub pressed into the spindle allows only for manual hub cv axles.

ADD cv axles are a bit thicker, therefore, utilize a different hub axle pressed into the spindle. Last but not least, the ADD cv axle on the wheel end is threaded and uses a 35mm nut to hold it in place.

I have a 2000 with manual hubs, along with the 6 spoke 15"s that have the weird rare open center cap. I broke one and can't find one for sale that's either trash or sold in a set for $140
