same here. Except I’m thinking of trying to just re-route the water that drips down, into a drain hole of some sort. Something like this:

    red-thick caulk bead
    Green- drain hole
    Brown- plastic separator
    Yellow- wires from car

Not sure how realistic this “solution” is, but I’m hoping someone else on here either agrees or disagrees with how effective it might be. I’d just rather do this than disassemble the fender, and all that other stuff.

The caulk beads under the carpet? If you waterproof the underside of the carpet there, thats one way of keeping it from pooling on the floor at least...

I just called my local Toyota service center and told them about the TSB, he said its a $99 diagnosis fee up front, before the cost of the actual repair... He said it seemed like a hefty job. Weird, seems like this would be a relatively easy thing for a service center to do. Guess its worth DIYing it afterall.

I was able to solve the leak back in 2019. Checking after recent thunderstorms and torrential rains it's still holding. Here are some links to the thread where I solved the issue. Read to the end of the thread. One of my issues came from a crimped door seal.

I saw that Flex Seal stuff in the store the other day and wondered about it. They offer it in clear too, might look a little less crazy. So theres pretty much no way to avoid taking off the fender then?

Pretty weird it rained buckets yesterday and I didn't have any leak. It seems to be random. I tested it by running a hose down the windsheild last weekend and was able to see the water streaming down onto the passenger floorboard though.

I should have tried the clear. The black really got to be messy when I got it on me. It's like spray tar. I don't remember figuring out a way around it without removing the fender. One thing that I might try that has improved with technology is to use one of the new smartphone-driven borescopes. That might allow you to snake the scope camera down into the cowl to see the area where it needs to be sealed. New technology helps.

I've mentioned this before on other floorboard leak threads, but I will add it here as well. The floorboard leak can be one of several things from my reading. It can be the AC condenser drain getting clogged, the cowl seam (fixed by the TSB), a leaky door seal, or it can be a leaky windshield seal. And probably other things I'm forgetting about. It took me months to track down my leak, and for me it was a leaky windshield channel.

Diagnosing the issue is the tricky part. The "technique" I used was stuffing paper towels in various places before a storm. Stuff a bunch back by the firewall/cowl seam, stuff a bunch around the door, and stuff a few around the A pillar. After the rain passes go and check which paper towels are wet. If those A pillar paper towels are wet you have a windshield leak. The door panel paper towels would lean towards a door seal.

My floorboard would get wet all the way back to the access cab section when I had it parked facing uphill. Turned it around facing downhill and reduced the amount of water in the floorboard considerably.

I know it not the door seal on mine because I ran it through an automatic car wash and watched the blue soap water drip from behind the dash onto my Weathertechs.

Gotta say a while back I took the cowl off and cleaned under there real good, got all the leaves and debris out, didnt spray any sealant just cleaned. Haven't had a leak since, and its poured quite a few times. Maybe it was all the debris in there causing water to pool up and drip into the cab... idk all I know ive been dry for a bit.

I wonder about that too... Seems I get the leaks only if the front of the truck is lower - parked in an incline, front lower. I don't seem to get the leaks is the rear is lower or even level....

I just got my truck sealed up. 2001 DC. I had a total of six leaks. A couple were just plugs that I replaced. Ended up using SEM body sealant and a bunch of flex seal, which I didn't want to do, but the truck is clean and dry inside now so I'm happy. I had two leaks from pass front, one from passenger rear, and three from driver side front. I spent the last month and a half messing with them, so I could proudly throw in some dynamat, dynaliner and my carpet!!!!

What are the chances this is the same issue I'm experiencing with my 2017?

I know it’s been a couple years lol but ever drill that drain hole? This is exactly what I’m thinking of doing on my 05. I’ve tried sealing (took fender off) and still leaking. What a headache.

@Ozark_RegCab The reason the food is so good at the Low Gap Cafe is the Chef-Owner is originally from California and trained at the New York Culinary Institute. I know some people in Little Rock named Bottini. They must have settled in from California also.

Have you gotten under the dash and looked for the entry point? Mine was a very small leak that was soaking the carpet... ended up ruining it and had to replace it. I was able to fix it with my finger and some flex seal from the interior.
