I think as of this morning the state is open. I think the powers that be decided to follow the science and open the state with daily case averages at least 10 times more than they were last year. :poking: Just shows the dollar is more important than the data.

I'm out for the May 22/23 weekend.

I can do June 12/13 weekend. June 19/20 weekend. But I think I'm out for May. Could be up for it Memorial day weekend - however, would need to know sooner than later. Unlikely to make it up to Canada this year.

    :bananadance:

Now. The real question - who actually knows the woods? It’s been I don’t know how many years and I am not reliable for that. I could wing it but that’s all I can commit to.

You can get a decent KMZ off the NMW website that you could import into GAIA or similar app. Along with a Gazateer you should be fine.

Yes - I have Gaia and don't mind nav, but I don't know spots like the best camp site, that roads shagged but this one is clean, etc.

Well, June 19/20 - Who's in? I can break out another thread too.

The NMW kmz also has all the marked camp spots. I think you'd have to ask a Ranger for the most up to date conditions since they change so much.

Yeah, they might be marked but one might be on a lake that's not there or something like that. I'll start doing some researchin'.

You're clearly not embracing the overlunding lifestyle. It's about the journey not the destination man. Home is where you park it. :duh:

Seriously though, i'm sure there's maybe facebook groups or something but the best bet is to talk to a ranger. Maybe ask the person in the gatehouse if you go through a manned entrance. You probably just have to assume some float in the schedule to account for detours. And saying (in a down-Easta accent...) You can't get there from here.

Depends on the trails. Some are more tucked away but most are pretty active. On a relative basis. Depends on the seasons too, getting lost in a February blizzard is a ded. Lost with food and water on a beautiful June weekend for a few hours? Un-ded. (still bad though I know what you mean).

Yeah - most likely we'd be hitting some of the big spots to go to so not like we'll be in black or red trails to get there, we'll be with the subarus. I'd keep it small too - 4-5 trucks. Let me look at travel requirements and campsite recommendations and whatnot over this week and I'll see what I can come up with.

let me know, I think I can make it. Again, the tent arriving is the first hurdle.

I spend time up at Moosehead every year, we just started staying at Spencer bay campground a few years ago, but that’s not in the “NMW” yet.

My thought is to rendezvous in Milinocket. I'll probably go up the night before or something and grab a spot, or stop off at a family's place in OOB on the way up, TBD. You're actually in Saco too, aye? Could tag up ahead of Milinocket too if the timing works out. Then stock up - ice, food as needed, gas, etc in Milinocket and then head on in.

Yep, I could probably have a spot or two for those that want to land in Saco for the night.
