    Morning, y'alls bitches!

If any of you have pools, better stock up on chlorine! News had a big story on shortage and 70% higher prices!

Someone is reading the back in time machine.

I do not endorse this decision. Sacrificing perfectly usable space for a gym is the way.

That and hot tubs have been this whole nonsense. My FIL needed to get his hot tub serviced because it wasn't heating the water. He called in late Jan, early Feb. The earliest he could get a service appointment was late June. I just ended up picking up a heating element and pretended I knew what I was doing (thanks youtube) and replaced it. Actually pretty easy and quick.

I feel like there are a lot of things like that. They seem difficult on the surface, and the techs that perform the work make it sound like it's something overly complicated, but once you dig in, it's not too bad and you can tackle most projects with just a basic tool set, some common sense and YouTube.

I can't remember what it is - might be lambo or ferarri, shockingly. But they have an oil change cannister - basically you pop the hood, pull a box, and put a new box in. Oil and filter and everything is all contained in there. Pop out, pop in. Easy. I'm sure it's like a grand to do, BUT yeah a lot of stuff is easy unbolt, rebolt, done.

Yeah, sounds about right. Our neighbors just got a new saltwater hot tub delivered & set up about a month ago, but they'd actually ordered it last summer

So apparently the Ford 5.0L motors in '18, '19 and '20 have oil consumption problems. I am at 20% oil life remaining and decided to check it... fucking thing is down so much it barely reads on the stick. I checked it when I picked it up a few months ago and it seemed normal. So I guess I have another truck with issues.

https://www.carcomplaints.com/news/...gedly be,catalytic converters and spark plugs.

That one is kind of well known. Initially it sounded like the oil was escaping through the piston rings because they went from cast to insert or something like that. At first they were just replacing the entire engine blocks. But now they supposedly sorted it out as attributed to the timing of the valves or something like that. A reflash of programming on the service bulletin and you're good to go, I would do an oil + filter change (have the dealer do it) accompanying that, and then good to go.

I still have a catch can from my 5.0, do you want it? I was getting some oil coming from the CCV. The vent is apparently right above one of the cam chains so you'd get oil sling being pushed right out through the vent and fed into the intake. I wasn't catching a lot of oil, but I bought the catch can as a piece of mind sort of thing. If the engine design hasn't changed, the can I bought was a nice one and had Ford ends on the hoses and the can itself has a drain valve in the bottom, plus it's easy to unscrew. It was like $200 when I bought it but I don't have a use for it anymore.

I'll have to see what it looks like in there, I appreciate that. Let me see what the dealer does about it first, I guess the TSB is a longer dipstick and a re-flash like Garlic said.

A longer dipstick...so you can just read the lower oil level as higher than it actually is.....?:bananadead:

Yeah that one was kind of funny to read. It's similar to the Tacoma diff howl.

At first - rip it apart, replacing diffs.

Now.... "That's normal, deal with it bitch"

I mean it sort of is in a half-assed kind of way. Que in 5 years a slew of Fords with scarred cylinders...

They don't care. Probably their strategy to sell a bunch of Powerboost engines by then.

Telluride is coming today or tomorrow, wasn't supposed to be in until next week. Dealer came within 500 of the carvana, so I might just go with them ,would solve some logistical issues and make things a little easier for us.

Hopefully the end of the deal goes smooth and we have a new car in the next day or two.:fingerscrossed:

Would also reduce your tax burden, I assume, by taking your trade in off the sale of the new one. So you might end up in the green compared to Carvanna, but private sale would probably be more.

@jpereira2 finally went under and took my wheels off last night and cleaned my wheel wells. Hitting a car wash with an under butt blaster today and then going front to back underneath maybe tonight. Haven't dropped the skids or spare but that'll be before I come too.
