    We went to a vet once and they said our cat was depressed and that she needed anti-depression medicationo_O needless to say we didnt go back there...

    It's more common for dogs but I can't say I've heard of cats being given anti depression meds. But it's kind of a sad reflection on our pill popping society when we're even prescribing them to our pets lol.

    Growing up, we had a dog that was a nervous wreck in her old age and needed anxiety meds to calm down. One day we came home after being gone for a few hours and found her in the corner of the house with a big section of drywall around her neck. She had tried to escape through the cat door, got stuck and pulled a big section of the wall off when she got free lol.

    One of our cats,Bella, completely changed when Milo passed away. She absolutely adored him. Her behavior was that of being depressed.
    We took her to the vet to make sure that it wasn't something else. Vet said that she was reacting to the lose of her emotional bond with Milo.
    We spent as much time with her as we could every day. Sometimes l felt were smothering her, but she loved it.
    She eventually snapped out if it.
    I'm not a fan of over medicating myself, or my little furry one's. If the really need it, they'll get it. But I don't like the idea of a taking a pill for everything.

    Yep, all three are Maine Coons. Zeus is a polydactyl, meaning he has an extra toe on three of his paws and TWO extra on the fourth! He's a helluva mouser.
