An update of over 2 years and still holding tight considering I don’t have one of the three nuts in place at the base. Still water resistant with snow, rain, low water crossing, and mud.

That's a great idea! Do you know which size and type you got?

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!
The rivnut tool I bought came with a bunch of different sizes of rivnuts. I'm almost positive I used M8 rivnuts.

I've got to say this exact ebay snorkel has worked for me and done what it needs to do. I've had it on for about a year now and it shows zero signs of fade in the plastic, it also has no cracks or defects, ect.

Same here, had mine on for going on 3 years now and it's held up great. Just had to replace the screws that hold the little grill plate onto the head because the original ones got rusty real fast. But the snorkel itself still looks great.

One has to wonder how the other fasteners that we cannot see (the fender 3) are holding up and if those are also rusting :gossip:

Eh, no one will ever need to see those so it doesn't matter lol. I only replaced the ones in the head because they looked ugly

I was thinking more along the lines of rust spreading throughout the fender. Doesn't really matter in the end I guess. We did put a giant hole into the fender so... :notsure:

Checked mine last fall and there was zero rust. If I remember correctly the nuts and studs were plated.

So it looks like I’ll need to potentially grind the cbi bracket and redrill the hole like you guys mentioned.

I also might need to pull the fender off to get this old setup out:

You may be able to snake that old stuff out if you remove the wheel, too. If you're running 10 or 11m radio have you looked into the Wilson Trucker base load series? Not near as intrusive and has a small whip on top of the base. That heavy one will get to flopping around and beat up the snorkel.

the radio won’t be an issue, it doesn’t even hit the ditch light. The ditch light location is though.

If the relocation doesn’t work Rago Fab makes great ditch light brackets that have plenty of clearance. It’s what I use on my truck.

When you say it's an m8, you do mean the bolt right? I measured the bolt holes on mine and they are suitable for an m4 so I ordered m4 rivnuts. When they arrived I started rooting around all my RC stuff for some m4 bolts and happened across some m3 rivnuts I had long forgotten about. Now I'm debating which to use. Use the m3 and then the smaller bolts will act as a shear bolt and possibly not ruin the pillar should the dorkel get hung on a limb or something more serious. Or go with the m4 and run the risk of ripping the panel if it snags on something. If you've used some m8 then the hole had to be at least 10-12mm that you drilled for them to fit.

Yes... M8 meaning the bolt. I remember I had to drill the bracket for the snorkle to a bigger size to allow the bolt to go through.

Holy hell. I first marked and drilled 3 holes for the m3 rivnuts. My low grade stainless bolts just snap off trying to set it. So I made a 30min round trip to the hardware store for m4. 8 long bolts, nuts, washers to set them. Short bolts for the mounting. Burnt through 17 rivnuts before setting 3 and was on the last of 8 bolts. Not my speciality. But it is done.

They leave a slight upset so I decided to take advantage of it. Rough sanded the pillar and bracket and applied some 2 part epoxy. Bolted down and noticed a small gap. So mixed a little more and let it flow down filling the last of the gap. 30min project turned into about 2 hours of fury and frustration. Won’t be doing rivnuts ever again.

You can hit deeper water and at faster speeds without worrying about water getting into the stock intake. The stock intake pulls air from inside the passenger wheel well and the only thing blocking water from getting into it is the wheel well liner.

But yes, you can't expect to go submerging your front end with a snorkel and get out unscathed, electronics are still vulnerable.

Snorkel really helps with pulling in cleaner and cooler air from further outside the truck. The air in the wheel wells gets awfully dusty and hot on the trail.
