    2021 Off Road
Hello. Just purchased a 2021 Off Road. I started four wheeling in the 70’s. This is my 2nd Toyota pickup. The first was a 1979 that was the 1st year of 4wd. I’ve had Fourunners, Pathfinders, Jeep’s and several full sized 4wd pickups. Now that I’m old and retired I downsized to a Tacoma.
I’ll be adding a Snugtop shell and getting rid of those lame factory tires as soon as possible. A lift might be coming too. I’m used to my lifted Ram I traded in.
I was a shop teacher for 35 years plus a few other jobs and live in Southern California.

    Welcome to TW.

I'm another one who remembers getting $2.00 an hour. I had posted my Peterson's Guide to the Toyota 1975 a little bit back. I bought it back then, graduated Highschool in 1976. Worked, did Pro Rally's, and went to school. Burned a candle at both ends. There is an "over 60 thread" somewhere around here. :)

I know I dated myself when I asked the dealer "Where is the lever for 4Lo?" Pickups, FJ40, FJ60. I wasn't used to dash knobs.

MT or AT in your 2021? I still like shifting my own gears, but my knees don't. The last new vehicle I bought with a manual was my 1999 Nissan Maxima w 5spd. Stop and go traffic was a pain, but if I could keep rolling 2nd was good from 5mph up to 60 mph. Challenge was to keep it rolling as I always had some idiot decide I was leaving a gap for them to slide in. Nope, just saving the clutch lining!

It’s a manual. Wife and I have 4 cars and a motorhome. The Tacoma, wife’s WRX, Cherokee and 1970 Mustang Fastback. Only the motor home is an automatic. My 1st job was laying sod for $1.50 an hour. Began teaching school for $8000 a year in 1974.
