Yup - I installed on my 2016 sport. Front TRD shocks are set to the top perch with factory coils. Ride is definitely stiffer than the Hitachi shocks but also not harsh. I also thought the Hitachi's were too soft and bouncy so it's better in my opinion.

Just had the TRD lift installed on my 2021 Sport DCSB, but with some modifications to the kit, so this isn’t the most objective take on it.

I added OME 888 coils up front in anticipation of skids, sliders, and a winch. I added Icon 1.5” AAL to the back in anticipation of bed rack and RTT. (Everything’s been ordered, some of it is back ordered for months).

I was originally told by Toyota that it could not be installed with these other parts (as I described in greater detail in the thread discussing the “stop-sale”), so I reached out to a buddy who runs a tire shop and he made it happen and got the alignment spot on afterwards.

I’m waiting for some of the front-end rise to settle with the new springs, but the ride is comfy and it looks great. It’s not a swamper, but its a noticeable difference in ground clearance (having the URD Y-pipe installed at the same time also helped).

This was my first big mod on my new truck and I’m super excited to start exploring (RCI skids and Westcott sliders can’t get here fast enough!)

Just to understand, the dealership did the install? If so, they must have had some kits on hand, because they can't be ordered at this time...You're lucky man! Who knows how long we'll be waiting for Toyota to unscrew this BS.

BTW: You know the rule...Pics or it didn't happed!!

Wait for it, 888 OME are known to sag and the 888 has a lighter spring rate than the stock coils. My friend went through 2 sets og OME 888s. The org. coils will make it ride better than the 888s.

The dealership that I bought the truck from would not do the install.
I originally purchased the kit from a dealership in FL via eBay, although I did get a better deal by just calling them and they did still want to confirm my VIN.

The dealership would not do the install with aftermarket parts and then when I asked them to forego the new springs and AAL, they still wouldn’t do it. They wouldn’t even swap the grill out. Seems like dealers don’t want to touch these things and if I had to guess it’s because the demand was greater than they expected and haven’t been able to train service advisors and technicians about the install.

We tested spring tension between the stock and 888’s and the OME are definitely heavier duty than the stock springs. It seems like it now (and I know they’ll break in a bit, so completely ready to be wrong about this), but probably won’t take corrective action until the truck is fully weighted with impending mods.

Good info, thanks! I talked to my dealer about me getting the TRD kit from eBay and having them install...they didn't say no, but also didn't jump and say yes. A little torn on waiting for "Stop Sale" to end or just going complete aftermarket for a simple leveling lift i.e. 5100's up front and Icon AALs in rear.

Just to clarify, did you get your kit on eBay or through a dealer in Florida? If a dealer, can you PM their name. Oh, and some pics of the truck!

888 are not the same spring rating as OEM

I ended up getting the TRD factory lift with Pro grille, Pro skid plate, and New Falken Wildpeak tires for 3416.25 out the door..
I had to add the torch add a leaf kit to support my RTT/ bed rack. My leaf springs were sagging really bad after the added weight. attached some before and after pics.

Ive tried about 5 local dealers.. Toyota is not shipping the "accessory" grille for $160.. and says it has to be purchased with the lift kit.

I’ve had the kit done It’s funny, I don’t care about the grill, I would take it off and replace it with my old OR grill, but they “calibrated” the new one.

Yea I dont think they can calibrate it with software its just a physical thing. As you can see here in the directions of calibrating after install. They are just positioning it "adding a washer probably" so it sees objects correctly in the new location and lift

What in the world, so you put the reflector in front of the sensor.... and then what? Does the tacoma see the reflector (09870-60040) and know to calibrate? Is there more steps?

yea it has been out there when others upgraded from the factory grille to the Pro. when they move the sensor to the location usually a 1mm washer is used on the screw to adjust the angle to the sensor so its reading correctly because of the new location.
Thats what i did with mine and have no issues.

If you lift the truck 2” the factory sensor will quit working, all together or it’s just off? The sensor is still seeing to the front. Just 2” higher, I suppose it will be off, but will it still work I wonder?
