Thought you guys would appreciate this. Two lessons, always be mindful of your sparks and always have at least one fire extinguisher handy.

Honestly not sure I could ever have a cam in the garage. Don't want the wife to see all the dumb shit I do, and I don't want to see all the dumb shit I do.

I've used it more for capturing dumb stuff I do and sharing with others than I have anything else  except maybe check and see if the garage door is open or not.

Least you caught it early! Known a few guys who have been welding and not noticed a fire had started till it was a lot further along than yours!

This Amerex Water Extinguisher is my go to. Always have it close by when doing hot work. Nice to just have water to put out the small embers and crap instead of worrying about a chemical and how much charge it has left. Also works great for other stuff like flushing heater core lines

Wow, 55 second discharge time? Impressive. And I’m glad I caught it early as well. I smelled it instantly which is why I stopped and lifted up my hood.

I just installed a fuel pump and had the gas tank dropped and opened up. Felt pretty sketchy having all that gas and gas fumes in the garage.

Were you able to drive it to low level or was it a sudden failure.

Yeah I bet. Hopefully you had a respirator on, bet it was pretty strong in there.

I was just upgrading, the original pump was still working. I did drive it until my Ultragauge read only one gallon left. It was crazy, I had to drop the tank twice because the first time the electrical connector for the fuel level sender unclipped and fell off! So my gas gauge stopped working. I ordered a new one and just installed it today. Needless to say, it was a lot faster and easier the second time. lol

I was having such a hard time getting all the fuel lines disconnected, I didn't even think of putting my respirator on. Fumes were crazy though. I tried to cover the opening on the tank as much as I could and moved my bucket of gas drippings outside.

Not sure if this is true but I heard that gas fumes are more explosive than tnt and that it’s safer to have some or none in a tank than just a little bit.

    What thread is this?

If we talking fuel pump replacement in the welding thread,. There is some serious messed up activities going on.

Digression from sparks/fire but consider that donkey’s tail pinned.

Back to welding stuff, I tried putting this "bomb" piggy bank together. Definitely was hard for me and I'm going to try to do another one a little nicer, but good practice.
