College Textbooks

Seems like there are a reasonable amount of members on here attending college. I'm studying Mechanical Engineering and I keep every related textbook I buy such as math, physics, and all my core classes. I figured maybe we can have a thread where we can ask to borrow/rent a book from a member here if they have it. For instance, at the moment I am in need of a multivariable calculus book. 6th edition. James/Stewart. I already have a book for the class but our school switched to another author. So if anyone has that book and is willing to let me borrow/rent it for the quarter(10 weeks) I would appreciate it.

Perhaps if someone needs a book to borrow they can ask. If someone has it, help them out! Textbooks are soo expensive these days.

Save a bundle by using half.com and other online resources to buy and sell books. Good luck OP

 

Planning on sticking with Poli-sci and Hist myself, so I can't really help with calc, but if anyone needs a copy of The Prince, or any Locke readings, I can help, lol

Also, you cant rent and return books via Amazon and other sites

 

I like the idea OP. I however dont have that book and wont be taking Multivarible until summer. but is anyone looking to sell the Physics for scientists and engineers, Serway 7th edition??
OP what school are you going to?

 

I am 50 and started back to college last year and damn, the textbook prices are fricking crazy. I had two of my books that cost $155 because they came with a useless CD.
Then some of my classes have required more than one book so i can relate to this thread.

 

Yea it's not just about the book I need. I was doubtful someone would have it. But before we buy books for the quarter/semester we could post up here and see.

Haha just ordered my books. I am just starting a business degree plan so if so I will have a couple business books after this semester. I will be sure to check this thread before I start summer semester also.

 

yeah they really have you by the balls with text books. it sucks!




I have used chegg.com saved a ton of money doing that.

Bigwords.com is the best site i have found. It searches all the other sites that have been mentioned and finds the best price out of all of them using the isbn number. got 4 of my 5 books for the semester for $175. the other one is one that the teacher is the author and just gives you it.

 

no problem! its always nice to save a few bucks... especially as a college kid... I try to spread the word whenever I find a good deal

 

I've got a bunch of college books in my basement. They're 20 years old.... but damn, I wish I could SELL THEM or something...??? Who the hell is gonna want 20 year old books?

They're a fire hazard.
