Im looking to take advantage of all the flat gravel fire roads in Northern Nevada and getting a gravel bike. Any brands or models you guys could recommend or steer away from id greatly appreciate it. Price range $1500-$3000+- $500 def dont mind spending more, was leaning more entry level

Almost all of the big brands are good to go- Spesh/Giant/Trek/Cdale all good, as well as the smaller brands, kind of hard to screw up a rigid hardtail. Only bad thing ive seen is a fork recall from Salsa.

If it’s fire roads and not any sort of down hill I’d say go cheap and build up. I’m working on plans for my commuter bike and fully intend to have cable disc brakes. Cheap and simple and does the trick. Go for robust.

My only advice is if its a drop bar bike and you think you eventually want hydraulic brakes - get the model you want with the brakes you want. The shifter/brake assemblies are expensive to upgrade and are also more involved when swapping out.

I’m a big fan of my salsa warbird. Can’t go wrong with the other big brands though. You could also get a cervelo aspero in that range if you want bling. I like the idea of starting with a carbon frame with lower spec components.
That was the cutthroat with a fork that has a specific serial number. I wouldn’t be too concerned about salsa.

Unless you are really serious about it, you should be able to stick to the just over $2k mark. My Niner RLT has hydro brakes and the newer 105 components. No complaints.

but spray. I don’t usually need it for skeeters but I will need it for ticks around here. I spray my shoes pretty strong. That’s usually enough for them when I have any pauses though.

Good to know, Salsa makes good stuff. I wanted a Warbird but ended up with a Diverge, which collects dust 8 months out of the year.

    :spy: yeah and?

sorry meant bug spray. Get something that says it protects against ticks, do not spray it on skin - clothing only.

At least those marketers live in America. Don't forget they're also the ones sponsoring industry events. I've never seen a Fooker banner hanging at a race...
