Camping this weekend at FPK if anyones interested. Planning on leaving from Woodstock VA 530-600 on Friday to head there

 

you will probably see me, a 4runner, and another quicksand taco on Saturday. I wont be camping though

 

If I can get my stuff together by then, I may join you. I may meet you up top instead instead of Woodstock as I'll be a little later. I'll confirm Friday if I can get there.

Spent too much time over the past few days coming dangerously close to buying a 1985 FJ60. Ultimately passed because I didn't want to ship it to Hawaii from Cali...super tough to pass up though.

By the way, May the 4th be with all of you!

Is that the first fire you started in your garage?

 

Well I’ve started a few tiny fires on my truck and myself but nothing I wasn’t able to just blow out. This is the first actual fire I’ve needed an extinguisher for.

 

Must say that I am damn impressed with your calm, cool, and collected demeanor as you casually walk over to grab the extinguisher...

 

It sounds so corny but I thought back to my navy training where they taught us “slow is smooth and smooth is fast.” I knew scrambling wasn’t gonna do any good.

 

I might take you up on that. Have to see how my honey do list pans out.

I've set myself on fire too with an angle grinder, fortunately it just resulted in a ruined tshirt!

 

I don't know why some people (no one here) are surprised by the calm and steady reactions people have to situations. With disciplined training and repetition, the response becomes like muscle memory. I think most of us who have served don't think much about it because it just becomes second nature to assess and provide a measured response. One if the things I appreciate about my too short time in the military.

 

Glad I went with heavy spring set up. About 3.5 yards of wet mulch. Only dropped about an inch, loaded to the rails.
