Ya it's a good trade. I honestly haven't seen many Leafs games lately, so I can't really say too much. But he is a solid player and that was a great move for a guy to fit a need that they had. And another guy worth mentioning is Taylor Hall I know we kinda joked about him a bit, but he has been a great fit and seems to have some renewed energy.

I like Hall in Boston a lot but I still think they don't have what they need to get out of that division. There's just too many good teams they have to go through.

How the fuck did Tom Wilson not get suspended for his WWE routine in the Rangers' game that resulted in Panarin out for the rest of the season?

Canes play tonight and I’m going to watch but oh I’d love to see the Capitals vs Rangers play again tomorrow night if I could get it, to see what kind of “reception” dirtbag Wilson gets.

Parros is a clown. Funny because Biz and Whitney are on Twitter deep-throating Wilson and calling everyone cry-babies, but it's just terrible for the game. If we were talking about big, clean hits and whatnot, then great. But he's just a dirty pile of shit player. Of course everyone would rather he be on their own team, but that doesn't mean that he should be able to get away throwing star players on their head, by their hair etc.

Now you're all upset at Parros. I've been pointing out the issues with the NHL department of player safety on here for years. Shanny had it running fairly well but left when Campbell stepped in to prevent Chara from facing serious discipline for trying to kill Patches back when he was new in the league. It's not just Parros that has to go. Player safety should be handed off to a third party that doesn't answer to the league itself. Yes, it should have oversight but meddling from the inner circle is the problem that's lead things to where they are. My take, throw Kevin Bieska in a new roll that oversees officiating and player discipline. Make him answerable only to the owners. Let him cut out the cancer below him freely.

It'll be interesting to see who the Rangers throw in their lineup tonight. They're out of the playoff picture for the most part, so if I'm the owner/GM/coach of the Rangers I'm finding the biggest bodies I have and turning this game into a blood bath. Take Ovi out, maybe target the goalie with a run. Whatever it takes. Money under the table to make sure there's blood. Make the NHL pay.

Looks like NBCSN has decided to broadcast the Rangers-Capitals game tonight instead of the local outlets I saw listed earlier, wonder why since the rangers are totally out of the playoff picture and the Capitals are in. Tom Wilson’s reward night? :D
I should be able to watch this now oh yes!

The Caps are one of the heavier, tougher teams. It's hard to play their physical game and win those battles. It's almost like teams need to go back to the era of goons since the NHL won't police itself.

You don't need to be the tougher team to cripple Ovi or the goalie. I mean one high speed slew foot and their captain is done for the season.

And then all hell breaks loose and they do the same, or worse, and cripple your stars. No, to fight a team with goons you better have some players who can back it up in a fight. Besides Ovechkin is no wimp.

Oh I totally get it. Trust me. Played the sport until I grew up and I've reffed it for decades. You simply wait for the right time, usually dying seconds, and then put someone out there whose dumb enough to do something dumb. Heck, McSorely the bastard. You don't need to win strength on strength. Once it's done you just don't play your best guys. It's not rocket science.

What you're talking about can't happen anymore. You can't "win," a bench brawl. Nothing good comes from one. Not even a desired injury. Just don't free the B on someone. Oz knows all about that.

Odds are nothing happens and this fades away until we get another Kadri incident in the playoffs. Then shit will get real.

But you have to play that team again and players have a long memory. And with this year's schedule, entirely within the division - including the first 2 rounds of the payoffs - your scenario won't work. I remember years ago the Boston Bruins waited an entire year to get back at both Matt Cooke and Brooks Orpik regarding two entirely different incidents.

It's the way of the NHL. I don't see it changing. A few years ago there was a push to get rid of this kind of play but now the NHL is backsliding into this borderline style of play.

NHLPA deserves a lot of the blame too. They fight tooth and nail to prevent large fines and appeal suspensions to have number of games reduced because to them the worst thing that happens isn't somebody gets hurt, it's somebody loses a paycheck. Injured players still get paid. Suspended players don't.
