    got mine in an installed
    :bananadance:

    a crap guide to install:

Time to install: take you longer to read this post and these images than it'll take to install the panel.
tools needed: a single T30 Torx bit, make that 2 incase you break one, hopes and dreams, ducktape, idk maybe a few beers to help focus.

    step1: admire Toyota's craft work
    IMG_20210509_130701529.jpg

step2: admire this crapsman T30 bit.
    IMG_20210509_130845119.jpg

step 3:unbolt everything; torque specifications to untorque screws; non-zero flbs, your kid can unbolt this thing.
big screws hold bot the tailgate cap and the existing panel. Small screws everywhere else.
    IMG_20210509_131425351.jpg

step 3: slide panel towards the bed and pull up.
step 3.2: admire that someone from the Texas factory wrote on my panel expecting no one to ever see it.
    IMG_20210509_131533104.jpg

Step 4 (optional): clean this ridge
    IMG_20210509_131848082.jpg

step 4.2 (optional): add ducktape because of my insecurities and felt like adding it
    IMG_20210509_131959030.jpg

Step 5: align holes to bolts, make sure orientation is correct and you dont somehow install this updside down inverted. very easy to make this mistake on this step
    IMG_20210509_132054198.jpg

step 6: start to thread bolts on the corners to the panels
    IMG_20210509_132125154.jpg

step 6.2: close tailgate until latched and tighten the top 2 bolts when desired fitment is achieved.
    IMG_20210509_132632203.jpg

Step 7: finger tight every bolt into place and done. Torque specifications - my measuring tool is not fine enough to measure the 1/2lb it took, idk it's a guess - stop screwing it down when the washer stops spinning/ the plate stops going down further.
    IMG_20210509_132852336.jpg

step 8 (optional): drag 65lb skid plates across the panel to make sure it holds up as well as it's scratched up now so you dont need to worry about the finish looking bad due to damage.
    IMG_20210509_133137129.jpg

step 8.2: Admire your handy work of scratching something you just bought
    IMG_20210509_133236846.jpg
    mmm yessss
    sexy sexy scratches

Why the duct tape on the bottom of the tailgate?

mostly incase IF the panel started to move around over time. that way it wouldn't rub the paint back there.

Quote that post onto the first page and spot a box of timbits and we'll call it even for that $1.20 you owe me. Otherwise I know a pizza joint that still does $1 pizza slices.

Honestly, i would just install one or 2 of these magnet trays. https://www.amazon.ca/Titan-11061-M...=1&keywords=magnet+tray&qid=1620613150&sr=8-6

more uses out of this the better. it may not be as deep as the can-holder inlay thing but at least it's multi-purpose for a few loose screws or something. also since it's shallow i'd assume it's easier to clean out.

Lol, if it’s Modded, it’s gotta rub somewhere. Wouldn’t be right if it didn’t.
