Thats nasty. Few things I hate more than ticks. I was really hoping the lack of snow this year would have killed most of the bastards off. But I guess not huh..

@aahyut good luck on your recovery.

There were some news stories earlier this spring talking about how the numbers are down. I was laughing then, as my cat and dog had already had a bunch, now it’s just freaking crazy how many there are. And I agree, this is just the beginning with these little suckers

Actually, got something that brings me north of Brunswick Sunday morning, how late you think things will go Sunday? Maybe on the return I could swing thru.

Weather dependent we usually run until 3-4 in the afternoon on sundays so we have time to break everything down and pack up.

so many on the trails around my house went out last weekend and pulled about 3 off me that were crawling, found them inside the truck crawling around too.. And I have a husky and she hasn't lost her winter coat yet, so its been a nightmare trying to check her daily after he being outside. we broke and already gave her tick stuff which is earlier than we normally do.

I struggle putting stuff in my pets, we have been using an organic spray from Walmart. It does ok, pets smell good at least and I’m not concerned about putting nasty chemicals on them.

I used to use the liquid stuff on the back of their necks, but stopped a few years ago.

Totally get the desire not to put chemicals on the dogs. My frame of mind is that they only live 8-15 years depending on the breed, so the chances they develop a bioaccumulation issue that shortens their life is different than having their quality of life drop due to Lyme or the risk of bringing a Lyme infected tick into the house.

It’s the seizures that some of the dogs get. I wouldn’t be able to handle it if I did something that caused harm to a pet.

edit: but to each is their own, and I can respect folks who are just trying to do the right thing.

We use the same stuff, we have been lucky the past couple years though the owners of the house we live at have been spraying the woods line and yard with tick stuff from Mainely ticks 3 times a season which really cuts down the ticks, and the mosquito's which is awesome. and we don't have to apply the dog stuff as much as the package recommends.

I laid down some wintergreen-based “natural” bug killer on my lawn a couple weeks ago. Not sure how good it is but my basement smelled nice when I put my spreader back down there.
Still finding ticks though, pulled one off my kid last night.
