I'm waiting for Mickey Thompson to fully release their new tire. The Baja Boss A/T in 35x10R17. They are pumping it up via advertising. But its still unobtainable for now.

I'm really torn between the new Baja Boss 35x10r17 and the kenda klever 35x10.5R17

Finally mounted up today! Tire shop had a bit of a struggle getting the Toyo's to fully seat on the Method Trail Series wheels. Once they got the hang of it all went smooth. I really loved the old school look of the steelies I replaced, but the Method wheels are definitely sweet and a big plus is I don't need wheel spacers anymore.

    The details...
Suspension is OME BP51's, with Dakar HD rear leaf pack and an add a leaf. Overall about a 2.5" lift

Original setup: Toyota Tacoma factory spare steel wheels with Spidertrax 1.25" spacers (approx 4" BS), BFG KM3 MT 285/75R16's
New setup: Method 701 Trail Series Wheels (4.5"BS), Toyo Open Country MT 255/85R16.

Seen some posts where folks have had issues with the sidewalls getting punctures or splitting while wheeling. Yours have held up well? These are on my short list of tires.

285/70/17 = 32.7" tire and can be done with minimal trimming.

255/85/16 = 33.0" tire, so you are on edge, and wheel offset is critical. His other video shows the details with a larger tire (285/85/17) 33.8" tire.

Cab Mount Chop (CMC) for 2016-2019 Tacoma (Suspension Build Part 4)

In this video, we are doing a cab mount chop to allow a much bigger tire without rubbing issues. We are running a 285/75/17 on a 17x9 -38 offset wheel so doing this is extremely necessary. The -38 offset will give us the wide stance we want but creates a lot of rubbing issues on the fender liner/bumper and cab.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yL-fjmwbm2Q

I'm looking at 235/85/16 (skinny! 32.7" tall). Less weight, so hoping not to mess with regearing.

Stock OR 265/70/16 30.6" tire. I already drive like a granny, I just got to give it time to get up to speed, and taller tires will make it worse.

285/75r17 is a 34x11.5 and much harder to fit than 255/80r17 which is 33x10.

285/85r17 would be a 36” tire if it existed, which I don’t think it does.

I screwed up and had written 75 but they stated 285/70/17 which is the 32.7" tire. Correct my earlier post.

    I need my morning coffee.

What is the lightest AT 255/85r16 with a 50,000 mile warranty or more. Cooper st maxx is too heavy for my taste

With the same cutting you can just jump to the Kenda 35x10x5R17. 285's never made since to me unless you want the look or need tons of floatation.

There is only one other all-terrain 255/85, Courser CXT. Not sure how much they weigh, shouldn't be too hard to find.

To be honest. It has been hard to find. Tire rack doesn’t list mastercraft, and Amazon isn’t always correct, even mastercrafts website doesn’t list it
