I don't fall into any of the typical market things you sighted. Of course me being an anomaly doesn't mean squat.

Way I see it - TW 3rd gen forum members - mostly hipsters

Real world 3rd gen owners all 54+.

Can't seem to connect the dots.

I got no problem with old farts or with hipsters. I can't afford their jeans.

Right. I often see the market segments and think "that doesn't describe me" but that is a common thing in data analysis.

I don't know enough about all of the forum members to say the TW 3rd get members are mostly hipsters. I just don't know enough to know.

I have few problems with anyone and I like it that way. I will say about the so-called hipsters. They have had a rough go of it. Many of them were young when 911 happened, then they got gobsmacked by the crash of 2008 and then the year of Covid. I feel for them.

Hipsters have been excellent for my business. Heck for them I am able to go from a $22k SR Tacoma to a $43K tacoma.

Long live american consumerism...whether its Hipster, Gen X, Almost dead boomers, or whoever... let the green money roll :D

As long as its not Canadian monopoly money or 1 million Turkish Lira - I am ok with it :D

Amen to that - I am a capitalist, and an almost dead boomer - so money talks!!

To be clear it is not the younger generation I dislike...I have connections with a lot of young folks (mostly friends of my son) that I have around our property to ride, shoot, practice martial arts/fighting and such, all hard working and respectful fellows - in fact probably harder working than I was at that age , but I do not not think a work ethic is generational. Those boys do not look like that picture you sent, I must say.

The boy I referred to - as I saw it - made a snide remark about me wanting to shake hands - I will be polite to anyone and everyone, until they are not.

I can't recall but I seem to remember a quote about the younger generation lacking a work ethic, and such...I believe it was from around Thomas Jefferson's era.

True ... and we need this next generation to succeed and succeed wildly -- who else is going to pay into the Social Security Trust Fund.

HAHAHAHA...I absolutely want them to succeed...my 3 especially...I certainly never expected to see Social Security paid out for me (still have a few years, so who knows) though I've been having deductions (taxes, etc) out of my paychecks since 1976....certainly no one should count on it for retirement/supplemental that's for sure. This generation certainly is inheriting a major debt so they will need to save better than previous ones. I have confidence 2 of my 3 will...the other, my goodness.

I am at the age now that I finally know FOR SURE that I don't know everything. Quite different from the time when I was young and was sure that I did and would tell you so, as my daughters do now. Great entertainment...

At last, smart enough to know to keep my mouth shut and I might just learn something. Which makes me a little older than most of the people I meet. Sometimes not as smart as them, but often a little wiser. Some wisdom only comes with age. Here is some wisdom of the ages...Your grandparents are smarter and wiser than what you give them credit for. Listen to them. After all, their music was better than yours. And when it comes to being cool, know that you could never hang with them in their day. Yes, your grandparents. They are STILL cooler than you are. Their generation invented cool. By the way...over the years we've seen skinny jeans come through THREE times! Still haven't bought a pair...

Regarding those skinny jeans, and the spud wearing them: Like Don Henley sang, "The more I know the less I understand." ESPECIALLY how easily contemporary man succumbed to the emasculation and pussification of America. Re-grow a set guys, and reclaim your masculinity. Don't be that pencil-necked GEEK in the skinny jeans and flannel shirt.

    Hey’o

This thread is funny. It went from Taco sales to hipsters, and I think reality stars in there somewhere? I’m the new dude so I mind my place.

I give you my marketing fit. I fit the 50’ish. That is about it though. I may be a taco wanna be? I love my truck, but I didn’t get it for camping or anything. It was just intended for 2nd car. I was driving by dealer and stopped in to window shop. There were only 3 White base Sr5 on lot. Salesman just purchased the same one I ended up with. He said another was coming in 2 weeks so I signed the lease, great lease, $400 for 36 months. Problem was I like it so much I modded it up and now have to buy out the lease. Poor planning (story of my life).

Other than that nothing to say “hey man” got a Taco? My other car is new RX350l. Don’t do outdoors, born in Philly/NY. Grew up Ft. Lauderdale. I could not survive if there was no Italian delivered w/in 20 min or cannolis in the area.

    Peace out.

Ha! IF I bought one - big IF - it’d be my wife’s’s. My daughter turns 18 next week....If she wants one , and she’d love it, she has to buy it...I think she may have 4-5 K saved up, so no go.

BTW...I'm not a complete A$$...I gave her a car when she turned 16, and this is the latest ride I got her...complete with new saddle and tack (that alone is about 3K LOL). I will admit her smile still melts me - just like my other daughter and wife. BUT I will NOT buy her another vehicle, especially one for 150K (still not 100% sure I'd buy it for my wife).

What kind of Tacoma trucks are there at dealerships in California? Here in Texas there isn’t many markups, but seeing a TRD model on the lot is rare. Dealers here are flooded with SR5’s. Couldn’t find a Sport so I ordered that shit.

Bad b/o (body odor), PBR, iProducts in both hands while crying about the evils of capitalism, wool scarves in the middle of July when it's 100% humidity outside, and did I mention the b/o?

Think that pretty much sums it up.

Only a sprinkling of Tacomas on dealer sites up here in Maine. Almost exclusively SRs & SR5s. One or two DCLBs of any trim. I put a deposit down a week ago on a 7568 w/ a couple packages. Walked in and said this is what I want w/ these packages, I know the typical time from deposit through allocation to delivery is ~3-4mo and it is what it is. Salesman laughed and said, glad you have realistic expectations. We can work with that.

Obviously, at this point no paperwork (other than deposit slip) have been signed but the build sheet I left with was exactly MSRP. One has less of a leg to stand on to negotiate when ordering a high demand vehicle that the dealer can't keep on the lot. Figured I'd haggle with the financial guy for a few accessories when that time comes.

FWIW: I live in the home of LLBean so yeah, I have a few flannel button ups. They're great for shoulder seasons when the commute is cool/cold. No man bun but I have grown my hair to donate in honor of two people I was very close to that lost battles with cancer. Call me whatever makes you feel good. I'm comfortable in my skin.
