I haven't shot or handled one but...
nothing a little loctite can't fix? I wouldn't discount the entire rifle over this.

yeah, you are right. I haven't shot one either. It did feel good in the hands, however, crap falling off, striped threads was a turn off for me.

I have heard good things about Begara.

I bought a Scout Squad when they first appeared. It is my go to rifle for anything serious.

I learned what a mess the M16 was way back and “found” an M14. After having the Scout Squad I realized that this was the rifle I should have had long ago.

The shorter barrel maneuvers more easily. The composite stock is more resistant to the environment.

When the SOCOM model came out I looked hard at it. But the shorter barrel was reported to be a bit uncomfortable for those shooting it. But the same can be said when comparing the M1A standard rifle to the Scout.

Hand loading can mitigate the blast somewhat in the shorter barrels. And you do loose a bit of velocity, but not enough to be concerned about. On the plus side, a good hand load can be more accurate.

Make no mistake it is fairly heavy. But, that makes it a better club.

I just heard that S&W is dissolving Thompson Center, it looks like the CVA scout and Henry single shot rifles are the last of the break barrel rifles in production.

Since the parent company of PSA now owns H&R, maybe they can bring back the Handi-Rifle

I wasn’t aware of that, it would be a neat product, I don’t think they’re terribly expensive to produce and I know in the south there’s still a decently sized market for single shot rifles, especially with 16-18” barrels, youth stocks, and ideally a threaded muzzle.

I would think there’s a market here out west too amongst hunters. I wouldn't know the details of what’s allowed but I see a lot of muzzle loader tags go.

And how do you all dispose of old ammo? I recently acquired some I’m not comfortable shooting.

Pull the bullet, dump the powder, burn the powder. Safest way to deal with the primer is put it in the gun and shoot it in the empty case. If not dump the casings/primers in water and pop them with a depriming punch or press setup.

or…give them to someone who is comfortable.

inertial device. It’s safe enough unless I’m missing something. You could probably get away at pulling it with a pair of pliers if you have the grip strength. It’s not a daisy chained ied with built in anti tamper devices and some crusty old tatp in the cap.

Ammo pops and doesn't hurt much if it's in a container designed to contained shrapnel. Like an ammo can.

That said, much more fun to use it to pewpew.

Inertia puller. Doesn’t matter if it’s a wadcutter. It’s safe. They cost like $10.
