If there is any dust or any vibration, you know, like any dirt road, scratches occur. On the tailgate itself and the on the downtube, fork and worse, fork tube.

Maybe in moist climates, like PNW, it's a non issue, but in the arid west, i see them as having limited value. Especially if you are picky about taking care of your shit, and I recognize that I'm that guy. I wash my bike after every ride.

I too run a tailgate pad, no issues.

100% the overall best way of hauling bikes, don't @ me.

I can see where a tailgate pad would bother me with swirls/scratches on the tailgate over time. But I guess as long as you’re careful about placement and wax your shi*t you should be ok.

It's a truck not a ferarri, if it's that big of a concern just get a big ass clear paint protection film thing and let 'er rip :notsure:

I just don't want to have it hanging out in the bed for all to see as I'm camping overnight, and the soft topper keeps it dry. AND it's multi-functional, can be used for things other than just putting a bike in the bed.

Looks like the name brands Race Face/Dakine/Etc range about 150-200 or so. I got my topper used for 500, so yeah more expensive too, but as said - it's multi-functional, too! :D

Seeing everyone modified trucks makes me want to cutoff the steps or remove them entirely.

Eventually id like to have a shell and some bed mounts.
