Steering rack clamp bushing movement?

    I replaced a 1st gen taco rack few months back. OEM rack, bushings, etc. Rack would move side to side in that bushing OP has pictured. Triple checked everything was installed properly and torqued to spec. Loosened everything and torqued again same problem. Test drives just fine. I recommended poly bushings at that point.

    This isn't the first thread I've seen on this. If be very interested to know why this happens.

    Have someone turn the wheel while you stay under the truck watching the rack. I bet it's moving.

    No, don't think they replaced with poly. I'd bet poly bushings help quite a bit.
