ELM I assume meaning their OBD reader for $18? The model in the link I posted says ELM in the description. What makes it ELM anyway? I read somewhere that as long as the code is 0000 or 1234, that it will connect, but I’m not sure where I saw that.

From my understanding, joying only accepts the ELM blue modules that they sell or ones exactly like it. I had issues with mine communicating with the radio. Trying to remember exactly what I did to make it work. These head units are picky about what you can and cant do with them for some reason I'm told. Most everything I've learned about Joying radios comes from this thread or the XDA forums.

I just ordered the one with knobs today.
Since my truck doesn’t have steering wheel controls

It's a pain for initial connection for the OBD but after it connects, it works like a champ.

Are those features something you can add on down the road at some point? or do they configure the unit to be able to do that.

It's already programmed in. Just gotta use the elm 327 modules when you do get one.

Can’t figure out the fucking mountain bracket lol. I have a 2015. Can any 2.5gen’ers chime in?

this bracket is different than the OPs or whoever posted the bracket pics from their 09

Also think they sent the wrong harness. 1 connector doesn’t matchup with anything. No bueno so far

It wont use all the plugs. My guessing is that it covers 2.0 and 2.5gen tacomas. I got a plug on the radio side and one vehicle side that doesnt plug into anything and it works fine in my 09 with steering wheel controls.

Thanks for that. Good to know! I know it’s plug n play but lack of instructions really keep you guessing haha
