How do you guys who installed NAPA or other aftermarket parts tap the axle home? I do t see any place to put a pry bar to hit with a mallet.

Where are you putting the pry bar, or are you hitting the axle end directly?

There are grooves on the OEM axle. You could use a pry bar in the grooves and knock them in.
I personally haven’t done this. But I may try it tomorrow when I fining installing my bushing and hub.DEE23B1E-C64E-4FCA-9759-E22D6F20254C.jpg

Thanks, but it’s not an OE axle, and it has no lip like the OE has.

Well, then place the axle nut flush with the end, like it is in the picture above.
Then beat it in. I’d still use a dead blow, or a piece of 2x4 to help protect the threaded end.

Cool. Sounds like it needs a pretty good hit from the dead blow.

It depends. They are either easy to get in, or super frustrating to get in.
Some times you have pound on them, other times they pop in with nothing more than a tap.

I just put a tiny bit of grease on the lock ring to hold it in place so it doesn’t catch going I then I get everything lined up with the axle shaft going into the diff. Then I just grab it with both hands pull it back a few centimeters and pop it in no hammer needed. Works on every axle I have ever done.

Yeah same. Well my father in law. He also said if you ever have one that is hung up and you can’t get it out you can rattle the axle with an air hammer as to turn it. He said the vibration can sometimes get the ring to move and it will sometimes free up the axle but I’ve never had to do that.

FYI, got it in yesterday with a couple sharp taps. Thanks, all.
