What's the issues you're having?

 

Yes. I agree. told them about my leaks. They said I could take the entire thing apart and apply new foam.
they just don’t seem to really be bothered by the issues I’ve reported or anything.

 

Easy to not care when you're backordered into next century. Not like complaints will hurt sales any time soon...

 

They take forever to respond and responses have been vague. they don’t even seem to know what’s going.

 

For anyone thinking of getting one just an FYI. Had I to do it over again I would not have spent the money on this thing. It’s nice looks cool but I can see so many future issues that I will probably have to fix on my own. Customer service at RSI does indeed suck. Don’t spend all your money on one just yet. The biggest issue being the thing is a joke for being water tight...pretty much the only reason I got it in the first place.

 

i havent seen too many other caps other than the fiberglass ones.

id like a cap to support the weight of a rtt without fear of cracking. maybe put some kayaks up there at some point too.

a gfc is still on my list, but thats twice the price of a rsi

I know the challenges of being in AK and getting outside help. There's a dude in Anchorage with one on his Taco and I've been wanting to put hands on to see before I order (or not) but I haven't caught up with them yet. Are you having issues just ordering and shipping to AK or just general questions like are the locks gonna freeze up here?

I ordered one several months ago. Was told initially it’s be 7-10 days. After several weeks I emailed them and they say it’d be another 3 weeks. A month later msgd them again and they said another 3 weeks but not sure if I’d get one this time around...that’s basically the sum of it. I paid in full, I just don’t like the thought of 4K floating out there and they can’t even tell me when I’ll receive the cap.

 

Damn that sucks yours is leaking. I've tested mine a bunch since seeing some other issues people have had and I'm luckily not having the same issues with water intrusion.

 

Direct from RSi or another vendor? @OffroadAlliance.com has done a good job on the thread of updating when caps will be in as well as backorder timing. They've been backordered for a while now and I had to wait 2+ months to get mine.

 

We certainly try! These incoming ocean containers aren't an exact science. There's lots of delays at the ports, clearing customs, delivery to the warehouse, prep for individual shipments, etc. Demand in incredibly high and supply is low. Current lead times for most caps are a few months out at a minimum. We're taking $100 deposits on most models for lead times that are exceeding 45/60+ days.

Ive ordered other things from off-road alliance, they’re great.

 

I second that off-road alliance is top notch. I’d definitely do business with them again.

 

Any word on when the next boat is expected to arrive? Pretty sure mine is in the next wave....

 

There are containers arriving almost every month. They're all pre-sold at this point. So it really just depends on when you ordered and which cap you ordered. Any orders placed now are likely August/September for the Evo Sport and July/August for the Adventure. Orders placed last month or before are likely June/July for the Sport and similar for the Adventure. Again best estimates based on the limited information that we have.

Or an RLD. With either you don’t have to worry about the seams leaking as it’s a one piece design. Don’t really understand the modular design as is anybody really going to take it apart after it’s been put together? I doubt anybody has.

You can also order an RLD with any height you want. Don’t like the standard height and want a little more headroom for sleeping inside? Then you can add a few more inches to the height or whatever height you want. And you can also get these painted from the factory to match your truck. Something else RSI doesn’t offer. I think color matched to the truck would look better on most trucks. And would also create less heat inside than a black cap.

Not totally knocking RSI as it’s definitely a better option than any of the fiberglass caps. But there are other metal caps with more options and without the shortcomings some people have been complaining about with these RSI caps.

And has anyone taken one apart after assembling and installing it? If so why? Just wondering why someone would do this and wouldn’t that cause even more wear and tear on the gaskets?

 

RSI gets too hot. Not ideal for those who live in the southwest as I do. If you have dogs and they ride in the bed, not a good idea. Alu-cab has the same weight ratings as RSI and others. I love mines
