Coyoza_Tuning would be a solid option as well. ECT mode can be used as an alternative performance mode but is intended for improved towing

I'm totally satisfied with Coyoza. "Solid option" is the perfect description. No nonsense, straight forward, candid conversations with mZiggy, send him a PM and see what I mean.

There have been people in the past who would shout as loud as they could about tune services being a rip off, and some even would go out of their way to only charge people for the cost of unlocking their ECU, and those people very quickly changed their minds and either stopped flashing trucks altogether or raised their prices to match other peoples' pricing when they realized that it wasn't cost effective for them to just throw away money by charging less than cost, or when they realized that they can charge more because it's worth it.

If you see someone charging super low, especially for a custom/edited map, that person is likely circumventing flashing protocols in place or does not value their time whatsoever, and it is incredibly naive for other people to claim that a custom tune that required testing over time, and time spent considering the edits made, is not worth fair compensation. Time is valuable and is worth something.

What does “circumventing flashing protocols” mean?

Along those lines, there is the sheer benefit of the tune along with not dealing with the learning curve of flashing.

Just 18mo ago, we were all paying almost $800 for a tune that we were not allowed to share, couldn't edit, and would rarely reflash. We were generally over the moon about that. IMHO, anything less than about $500 for a tune flash and future support is a bargain, esp for what it unleashes on the Taco compared to the pathetic Stock tune.

Such as deliberately not updating vFTuner in order to avoid having to pay for credits to register VINs/flash ECUs, to give a perfect and more well-known example. There are a number of people who do this who are on Mat's radar already.

There are other known things that Mat is aware of that I am not going to list here so that others do not attempt to follow suit.

Out of respect to Mat none of the people that know the details will be willing to go into anymore detail. Enough was already said. No one is going to start name dropping either as there is enough of a shit storm on TW already.

Bottom line, if it seems too good to be true it probably is. Be sure you know exactly what you are buying and from who. It is a fact that files one individual in particular have a significantly higher chance of bricking an ECU than others.

At the bare minimum anyone buying any local tuning service should make sure that your vehicle (VIN/ECU info) is properly licensed. OLD software does not do this. If it is not properly licensed, you could be on the hook for fees on future updates if you ever wanted to update. You may get yourself stuck on a tune with no license to flash again.

There are some tuners still offering flash services using the old software. That is entirely between them and their customer. If they are OK with not being licensed, that's their choice. (just be aware if new software updates were to roll out you would have to pay credits)

Could end up being a double whammy if credit costs were to go up with releases of future cool features (map switching, S / Selectable Gear Lock, and other stuff we have not talked about at all yet).

ALSO, There are lots of people saying they are "Fully authorized XYZ Map seller" This is a title they are providing themselves.

ONLY Pro Tuners are actually authorized dealers of VF Tuner software. These people have actual business / LLCs / etc.
which can be seen here: https://forum.vftuner.com/forum/main-forum/218-official-list-of-pro-tuners-shops

IF you have purchased a local tune and are not sure if your vehicle has been licensed in our system, feel free to send us a email, we can check and let you know. (also if it has not there is nothing we can do).

I just flashed the OV on my 2020 MT and have also noticed how 1st and 2nd are much peppier.
The rest of the power curve however feels almost lacking. Like the power was transferred from above 3500rpms to right above 1k-2500rpms.
It’s nice but a little sensitive and is causing me to not shift smoothly all the time. After adjusting to the truck over the last year, I’m now readjusting to this new power band...

is the same software used to flash this and the kdmax tune? I found someone who will tune the OV in Denver. Does anyone know if this same person could also flash the kdmax tune? Or know of anyone who does them in Colorado?

from what I’ve seen in this thread the KD tune seems superior.

If you're on a superfob and it's too much, try a non superfob.

Got any updates on that Wiflash adapter many of us ordered ages ago? Also, how will that work if we need one wifi to check VIN and another wifi to connect to the WiFlash? Can we connect to 2 WiFi’s at once?
