05-08 vs. 09-11 Headlamps

Hello, new to the forum and have what I hope is an easy question. I talked to a parts guy at the local dealership, and he couldn't tell me if the "smoked" finish headlamp assemblies for the sport that started in 09 would fit on my 07.

Can anyone tell me if there are any differences to the outside shape, mounting locations, wiring harness, etc. that would make the later Gen2 sport style "smoke" headlamp assembly incompatible with an earlier model Gen2 Taco?

05-08 Stock Headlamp PN
81170-04163 (Left housing only)
81130-04163 (Right housing only)

09-11 Sport "Smoke" Headlamp PN
81170-04173 (Left housing only)
81130-04173 (Right housing only)

 

Welcome to the forum! Good call on replacing with OEM lights.

Yes they will fit, but those are the wrong part numbers. Those part numbers are for the old versions of the lights that have the melting DRL issue. See the copy/past info below, check out the linked TSB. Toyota fixed the issue and came out with newer lights, the correct part numbers for the fixed version of the smoked lights with links are listed below.

OEM 2005-2011 smoked headlights:
These are like the Pro lights, but came on select Sport models. These are the updated TSB version of the lights that do not have the melting DRL issue. TSB is available here.
Right: 81110-04210
Left: 81150-04210

Thank you! I have seen these part numbers a few times, but the service documentation doesn't look like the complete headlamp assembly, so I didn't think it was the correct one. I really want to stick with OEM if possible. If this wont work, I will probably try opening mine up and cleaning them up and painting the chrome inside as shown in another write up on here.

 

They will fit, it won't be an issue. 05-11 are interchangeable.
