Crossed at Mexicali and down to San Felipe, stayed on the beach dispersed camping, then south to Bay of LA, then over to the Pacific after visiting the Mission of San Francisco de Borga, and up north from there to complete the loop. It should be on everyone’s bucket list

Just various pictures from some of our most recent trips but before we did our lift and new tires. Big Bend National Park in Texas and some at Land Between the Lakes in Kentucky, and Hoosier National Forest in Indiana.

Estwing makes great products. I found a Estwing hammer laying along the road close to 50 years ago and still have it yet today. If I was still a camping man I would own one of those fireside axe/maul.

East of Yuma. Dinner that night was cheese crisps: tortillas, shredded cheese, my own smoked pulled pork, cilantro, green onions and generous amounts of chopped jalapeños.

All you need is a tent, sleeping bag and some food. Your truck is more than capable in getting you there. All those shocks, bumpers, winches and other stuff will come in time. Never underestimate the capability of your truck. Get out there and GET SOME as Jocko Willink would say...LMAO.

Took the doggo out camping at Dogtown Lake in Williams, AZ. Evening temperatures got down in the 30s. Waaay better feeling than Phoenix.

Just wrapped up a 7 day, 6 night trip to the Southwest. It was our first time ever going, and it sure blows the Midwest out of the water when it comes to epic views.

This was out first trip with our 1-year old daughter, and she was a trooper dealing with all the long hours on the road.

We've got some organization obstacles to overcome before our next large trip, but overall we had no major issues or setbacks. I really need to come up with a more efficient way to access our gear while on the road between campsites.

As you can see, we were heading out of the Kansas City area, and had a lot of boring miles to get through. Kansas is a surprisingly big state.

Night 1 (39.70036, -106.95261) - Nice little BLM spot just north of Gypsum, CO. Cold and rainy in the morning, but we were out of there pretty quickly.

Night 2 (38.53756, -110.00214) - This was a spot off Mineral Canyon Rd., near the start of the north access to the White Rim Trail. While technically BLM land, there was a sign near another road down there which advised no camping beyond this point. However, there was no sign down the road where we were at.

Night 3 (38.08864, -111.10386) - This was another nice BLM spot just outside Capitol Reef National Park. Great views and surprisingly no wind, but the nats were biting bad. Not sure what it was about this spot, but we had no other pest issues during this trip.

Night 4 (37.25314, -112.76736) This was yet another nice BLM spot just outside the East entrance to Zion National Park. There were quite a few spots off this BLM road and there were a few vans and small campers camped out. If you navigate through the tighter and rougher terrain, you can get away from them for a bit more privacy.

Night 5 (37.01419, -111.53104) Lake Powell, not much to say here, Mamma Bear wanted to camp on the beach. This is the only spot we had to pay for this trip, $14.

Night 6 (35.96339, -106.72109) - This was an absolutely epic spot in the Santa Fe National Forest. We were the only ones that had this huge meadow all to ourselves. We definitely could have spent more time exploring here.

We had a night 7 planned, but the forecast for Southwest Kansas turned south, and we decided to shoot for home instead. I know we barely scratched the surface, and we'll surely be back before too long.

Your trip sounds fabulous images are great.. !

I must say the West .. and the SouthWest in particular is spectacular. Got no use for anything East of Texas anymore...
    Rain/ Ice/ Tornadoes... ( Lions and Tigers and Bears ! )

That was a great trip you went on, glad you enjoyed and do come back this way.... lots to see here.. Utah/Idaho/Montana/Arizona..

I'm a little long in the tooth for tent-camping and prefer the luxury of a small teardrop... perhaps one day I'll get a little bigger one
but for now this little thing works like a champ...
