    Thoughts?

looking at a 2013 Tacoma and this is the worst rust i can see.
The rear axle has a lot of surface rust as well

You'll want to spend a lot of time under there cleaning that up if you buy it. BUT that being said, right now it looks like it's still very recoverable. Problem is we can't see inside the boxed sections which probably looks similar or worse, and can't really fix easily.

But for a '13 in the northeast, looks pretty good!

I would say you're screwed for alignment. As for the rust, it will only get worse unless you do something about it. 8 years of New England salt, it doesn't look too bad but, what you can't see is what the inside of the frame looks like.

Man, apparently I suck at seeing when things are too rusty  to me that looks like a normal 8ish year old truck in New England with normal care on it - I go above and beyond with woolwax, washes, etc. but :notsure:

If your house is Zillowing at $357k I bet you would have cash offers of $400k within 3 days time. If there is any curb appeal at all and you are in a decent school system? OMG, you will have dozens of real offers within a week.

^^^^^^^^^^^ That. I'm tempted to list my (a) truck and (b) house just to see where we at.

Very true re the loss, but not getting any income for a while is painful especially if any utilities are included.

My Star Wars tat is the only one that wouldn't cover.

Saw the same, no inspection is very dangerous territory. We didn't get one b/c family sale and trust me I've found some real fuckups that even I know better than to do.

Worst case you're in position to do it when the timing is right, versus some people who scramble from behind.

Problem is I'd still have to come to grips with moving away from my parents..and prying my wife out of MA.

East Bridgewater MA. We did build a new jr/sr high school within 10 years.

I ordered Sumo Springs for the truck today. The amount it sags with only ~2500 lbs hooked up to it is ridiculous - it rests almost entirely on the overload springs. I didn't want to get into air bags or messing with the stock leaf springs. These have good feedback so I'm hoping they help and don't make the unloaded ride unbearable (I'm actually hoping for slightly stiffer and it sounds like that may happen).

I had a set of those on my ‘13 F150 and was happy with them. Unloaded, they didn’t engage so the ride wasn’t impacted. With the camper hooked up, they were great, they eliminated that squishy feel without making it a jarring ride. I also didn’t want to deal with air bags and don’t think they were needed for the weights I was carrying. My issue was I had the cap and all the tools in the bed, then hooked the trailer on so the back end felt soft.

Do you remember if you installed the 1" spacer they came with or not? Apparently with that (on the 15-20 at least) it'll be basically touching the axle all the time so it will stiffen the ride somewhat. Without it doesn't. Some people say they installed it then removed it because it was too much of a change when unloaded.

Finally finished tiling my bathroom, only have grout left. Got the trailer out and hand packed all the bearings so it’s ready for our first trip. Might start up the next home brew session tonight or tomorrow.

I don’t recall but I do know the sumo springs didn’t touch the axle when I was unloaded, even with the cap and the tools in the bed. I don’t recall there being that optional step with the ‘13 kit.

Yeah, possible they changed it. Based on the reviews I've read, I'm leaning toward installing without the spacer. I'm glad they worked well for you!

I certainly appreciate any diy project for self sustainability:cheers:

Before I found out I can't drink (alcohol intolerance:mad:) I tried brewing my own a few times and honestly wasn't very good. I half assed it and did no research. In hindsight I got what I put into it. But cheers to you sir, I hope it turns out great.

Thanks! This will be my 3rd batch of beer and I did a few cider trials mixed in there also. So far, they’ve been decent although one wasn’t really my type of beer. I go into every batch knowing it could be one of the ones that get screwed up and I end up dumping straight down the drain. We’ll see, it’s in the fermenter, hopefully it’s bubbling tomorrow!

I wish I knew how to tile and didn’t have a brutal perfectionist streak that hampers me trying most any home project. I’ve got about 500 sq ft of tile from the early-90s in my house I want to rip out and replace and it’s going to cost me $Texas to do. The material cost isn't bad, but the labor is. The problem is that the subfloor isn’t correct for the house and where the addition meets the house isn’t flat, so the first tile guy who has looked at it said he’d he’d need to run a membrane like Ditra to allow the tile to move with the addition or else everything will just crack again.

It’s the main living area so if it didn’t look right it would be really noticeable. I’d love to learn on a small room but this area wouldn’t be the place.
