Came out from the gym at 9am and found my truck to be way louder than when I parked it. Good morning cutoff cat. Can I just replace this piece?? I’m not interneting very well today and can’t find just this piece. Cut off chunk along with the sensor with the black/white wires in the green loom. Thanks for any help!

I just spray painted mine last week. In MN anyway they won’t take spray painted cats.

Already called the family member that does insurance. According to Google, it’s a $1200 replacement at the dealer..

Cat theft seems to be pretty rampant, pick and pulls pay $50-$150 bucks for the cats when lowlife thieves bring them in because they can turn around and resell them for several hundred more than they pay for them. I have heard the same thing about spray paint but couldn't confirm that a thief wouldn't still take it. It's the scrap yards that wont take painted ones. There is a thread somewhere here on TW about cat theft. There was a big article recently on KTLA 5 News about a theft ring that got busted with $750,000 worth of stolen catalytic converters in LA . It's pretty common. If you google it there are threads about what cars have the highest cat theft rates. One of the TW members in that thread I mentioned said someone cut the cats off his tundra and due to that theft and some other damage caused by the theft (cut lines and wires from the sawzall) it ended up being a $4500 dollar insurance claim to have the damage repaired. Sucks that it happened to you, sorry to hear that.

If you do get insurance involved then all you'll be on the hook for is your comp deductible. In KS/MO comp claims won't effect rates so there isn't any future harm in filing. I'm in KC as well, if you don't mind me asking what gym were you at?

THIS is why I don’t go the gym !

I thought 3rd gen cats were tucked up so high, the cat thieves weren’t taking them - per Mike Sweers?

Nice! Now they’re steeling Tacoma cats as well? My Honda Elements cat is one that the thief’s like too….

I’m going to engrave my vin# after I spray it with heat resistant paint.

Is it possible to install some sort of "skid plate" to hide the and or make the theft harder ??
