Yep that's the unfortunate thing with powdercoat. Once it chips, water gets underneath and soon entire chunks can be peeled off like snake skin. Just scrape off what you can with a screwdriver, mask the roof, and give it a few coats of semi-gloss rust paint. Repeat every year or so when you touch up other armor on your truck.

Oh yea, rocks will get us all eventually haha.

This paint I mentioned will just be my touch up/make it look good when I'm tired of the rust. my 2018 has some decent rust and I spent a couple hours brushing it off and recoating with this and I'm so much happier with the look. Coated over this paint with CRC Corrosion Inhibitor and it's better than brand new.

I tried this one a couple of years ago. It dries faster than the "basic" Tremclad rust paint but isn't as durable. Expect to re-apply every year even without any stone chips or rocks scraping on it.
Yep. This also answers the question of DOM vs. HREW tubing. Some vendors charge extra for DOM for its higher crush strength in lab tests. However, the difference is lost in the wash once the tube picks up a few rock scars.

Honestly warfab even posted saying how most don't even wheel hard enough to justify 37s. Same could be said about 35s.

Unless you're running the Rubicon or Moab constantly or the 4+ rated trails around here it's actually hard to justify 35s.

You figure the group's here is a mix of 32s 33s and a few on 35s. Might not be able to do as many off shoots as easily as the 35s but everyone keeps up. The other trails that are really hard around here are also really tight for any long bed.

Look at any other 4wd channels in Europe or Australia and they're all usually on 33s maybe a few on 35s. And they just just as much if not more than most do here.

Unless it's a trailer rig or you basically live in the country where you don't need to drive far to get to the trails it's ridiculous to be on anything bigger than 35s

I've been noticing it a lot lately with everything it's just gross America rubbing off on us. A lot of the wood working channels I follow are the same. Guys in the States have 4-6 car garage or like 30x40ft shop. Yet the same guy working out of what's essential a one or two car garage in the UK or Belgium is making all the same stuff.

I suspect that the steel is laser cut. The paint or powder coating doesn't stand a chance sticking to such sharp cut corners. We get alot of farm equipment that it has happened to. Brand new equipment that has to be repainted due to sharp edges

Good to know, I'm gonna keep an eye on it...I think the coat is a little soft so I'm not sure it's the best quality despite seeming like it. If I reapply after this summer I'll try the cheaper one for sure
