This is my 1st Tacoma. 2017 4x4 TRD Off Road. I just recently retired and was planning to travel the US in 2001 Prevost towing my Tacoma (Using the Prevost as a Base Station and the Tacoma as an adventure vehicle. In August 2020 I set the Tacoma with a Road Master Towing package. I've towed the Tacoma twice by disconnecting the drive line and wiring it to the muffler bracket(pain). Anyway, after the last tow I reconnected the drive line and all was well when driving the Tacoma around town. I pressed on the brake pedal and a message appeared on the maintenance required screen saying"Malfunction Brake Override System" when I place the vehicle in park and turned of the vehicle to look in the owners manual while my girl friend check Tacoma World for possible corrective action. I attempted to start the Tacoma and got a Warning Battery charging, so I jumped the battery to get the vehicle running then I could not get the vehicle out of "Park". Totally frustrated by this time. Well... as luck would have it The Tacoma community directed to check the STOP Fuse. Eureka! I did and the fuse was blown. Replaced it and all was well until I hit the brake again...Damn! same thing happened when I stopped the Tacoma and put it in Park. Sorry to be so long winded with the story and was wondering if anyone might have a suggestion for a fix. Thanks Glen1956

Crawl under the Tacoma and inspect the wiring from the rear lights and the towing harness towards the cab (driver's side). I suspect during towing something might have cut the wiring.

Good afternoon, I want to thank you again for your advise. You were right! The wiring for the Road Master was chaffed just under the radiator so I taped it, secured it with a plastic tie and believe all is well. Hope you have a great day as mine is getting better.
