ZZP pump installed yesterday and finally rewired so it doesn't run off of the efi circuit. I had an unused wiring connector to my previous Bosch pump that fit perfectly in the new ZZP pump. If anyone has connector issues it might be worth a try.

I did not try the original connector in the new pump so I don't know if it fit crappy or not in my case

Also, the pump fit a bit loose in the clamps so I added a bit of rubber to tighten things up.

 

What did you rewire it to? Been wanting to do the same.

 

My example isn't stock as I installed a Bussman Xtmr that has five fused outputs and five relays. An ignition controlled mini relay triggers the pump.

I believe a couple of the relays in the small box in the engine are ignition controlled and you could get a tap off the appropriate leg with something like the link below to trigger the pump relay (it may need to be fused). Or run a fuse tap in cab to the engine bay and splice the wire that will be removed from the efi tap.

This is all I want. A standalone relay that's triggered with ignition, and then triggers the pump.

 

There is a relay already in the circuit (I forgot about it until I removed that whole circuit). The efi tap triggers the relay so changing that wire to an ignition controlled source would do it.

 

How you like it so far?

 

It's a pump and it's red so according to science it must be faster. I think it makes a little more noise than the prior pump and I tested it after install to confirm it worked but haven't driven with it.

So far so good I guess.

 

me too. I need to get a fuse panel in for some other things soon, so I’ll do this at the same time.

from reading the install manual I am guessing that was the easiest tap under the engine bay that didn’t need any additional work to get it working. Otherwise, there doesn’t seem to be any good reason to have the pump turning on and off all the time when the truck is off (on the 2012-2015 SAIS trucks).

 

Scares the shit out of me sometimes, and annoys the shit out of me when camping and it's nice and quiet out. Kicks on in the middle of the night.. and I'm pretty confident it's the cause of some slow draw on the battery along with other accessories on the truck. Has made for false dead battery readings, etc.

Don't get your hopes up for impeachment. IIRC, there have been two attempts at that here, but our village idiot remains in the governor's mansion.
