Yep. There is no argument here. A short bed will always be better than a long bed for off roading purposes. There's a reason why jeeps are the kings of that space. It's physics.

Certain instances a longer wheelbase helps a ton. Few and far between but there is a few. Lol

Hell yeah they do! Picking up an ACLB MT in a couple weeks and stoked on it.

AFAIK that specific config is only available in Sport trim, maybe SR5 too but that's it. Once you step up to OR and above, only the DCSB has MT.

Depends on how many turns you want to make in a tight curve! I like the idea of a 6 foot bed for putting in a camper shell, but I probably wont shell out the $$$$ needed to get the one I want. I can make do with a tent and a 5 foot bed well enough. I prefer a shorter wheel base on the trail.

AFAIK the ACLB and DCSB have the same wheel base. The only differently sized truck is the DCLB.

I could easily be wrong here and am talking out my ass.

I wasnt even thinking about the ACLB (I forgot about it) I was thinking of the DCLB vs DCSB. I think you are right about the ACLB vs DCSB having the same wheelbase.

Towing is better, more stable with a longer wheelbase.

I have been racking my brain trying to figure one out and can't come up with one when it comes to off roading. SB has breakover and turning radius advantage, which in all situations is an advantage. However, for what most people do with these trucks off road, I doubt the difference is significant enough to matter. The switch backs on black bear pass can be a problem for longer wheelbase vehicles but I have seen full size trucks do it, so can an LB Taco.

Climbing hills and depending hills. Given the break over at the top isn't bad. But a longer wheelbase makes you way more stable. The 12 inches or so in the tacoma isn't much but still matters

You would have to go to high lift and 37 inch tires before the extra wb becomes an advantage. Anything smaller it will not be an advantage but the break over and turn radius will be always

On a side note . . . From a (now retired) contractor who bought a lot of lumber in my life. . . Generally lumber comes in 2ft increments ie 8ft, 10ft, 12 ft, etc. They are special order for odd (ie 7ft, 9ft) or very long lengths because essentially the mill or lumber yard just cuts a foot off the next longer length. So you end up paying more money for less lumber. It pays to order odd lengths only if you need a WHOLE lot of them.

Wasn't there some mad bastard on the forums who had a home-built ACSB? That thing was sweet, looked like a little stubby hot wheels truck from the side, probably owned bones off road too.
