Sqeaking when truck starts up

When I start my truck each morning its squeaks like my belt or one of my pulleys has an issue. It just started randomly I have done anything to the belt or the pulleys. It will only squill for like two minutes then it goes away and each time i start it the rest of the day it doesnt make that noise. Unless it has sat for quite awhile.

my truck is an 05 and i havent ever replaced the serp belt do you think that that might have something to do with it? I prob need to change my belt

 

Mine makes noise also, but comes and goes. It might be an idler bearing starting to go bad. Try spray some lube on them and see if that keeps it from returning. Also our trucks have a self tensioner that can't be adjusted

 

My serpentine belt lasted about 3 years (60K miles or so). If you've passed that point, you're probably way overdue for changing it! The first thing a worn belt will do is squeak when you start up the engine. It might also squeak more in wet weather.

Don't lube it with anything (you might cause your new belt to squeal if you do), and the tension cannot be adjusted. Takes about 15 minutes to swap belts from underneath the truck.

 

it could be a precursor to a bigger issue. I would try to isolate which accessory is causing the noise. I would also take the belt off and check all of the pulleys.

I would change the belt if you have not done so regardless.

When I initially start my truck and take off in first gear it always makes one quick squeak...and the sound comes from somewhere in the rear of the truck. After that one initial squeak, I never hear the noise again until I start up the truck and drive off the next time.

 

I have the same exact issue on my 2006 sr5 and have been searching through the forums, doubtful I'm dealing with the infamous "toyota tick"... Did you get your issue resolved Andrewfalk?

 

the squeak in the rear could very possibly be U joints or bad carrier bearing...
