Torts has been done for a long time. You can tell the team has tuned him out and the GM hasn't been supporting him like he has in previous years. I wonder if Tocchet has more to do with not being the new GMs guy than anything else. It's not like Phoenix should be dominant in the division they're in, they're right about where people expected.

Ya I agree. I think Tocc actually got a lot out of that team, considering their roster. Wonder if he ends up in Seattle somehow, with connections with Francis. He would be a good hire in Buffalo though, really. Would be funny if he takes Kessel with him, wherever he ends up lol.

I still think there is a chance Brind'Amour crushes Hurricane fans and moves to Seattle with the guy who gave him his shot. There's so much history between the two and Brind'Amour never even received a contract offer from the Canes this year even though he probably deserves the Jack Adams. The rumor mill says that Brind'Amour wants raises for the entire coaching staff and ownership is too poor or unwilling to meet that demand. If that's the case, I could see Brind'Amour leaving to Seattle and tell Canes fans he would of stayed if management took care of his assistant coaches.

It could be very much like Trotz going to the Isles.

I wonder if Torts is done with coaching in general...OR if someone else has been entertaining him...

also wonder who C-bus is going to get...who can come in and organize the locker room that is left

Hope that never happens, Brind’Amour made this team what it is today. Majority owner/CEO Tom Dundon and GM Waddell dropped the Hurricanes affiliation with AHL Calder Cup champions Charlotte Checkers because budgets matter teams don’t to them. I’d rather see a new owner.
Brind’Amour is one of the lowest paid coaches in the NHL at 600K a year and could easily get up to $4 mil a year elsewhere. Yet he wants to stay with the Hurricanes and Dundon is “graciously” offering a raise to $1.8mil a year on a 3 year contract extension.

Somewhat. I was under the impression that Trotz was under pressure the year before they won the Cup, from ownership. Basically they said "make it happen or you are gone." And he already had his mind made up that he was out of there regardless, but it just so happened that they won the Cup.

Seems like with Brind'amour, there is no bad blood and he's done nothing but elevate that team. If what you say is true about the salaries and whatnot, then that could play a role. But Trotz was supposedly on an ultimatum to get it done. Rod I assume is not in those circumstances, but maybe it is a money thing or he just wants to join Seattle. Would be crazy.

I’ve read the same. Brind’Amour is okay with taking below market value but he wants big raises for his assistants.

Still not quite sure what to make of that move. In general, I am not an ESPN fan but hopefully they do a good job covering hockey. I have my doubts. ESPN now, isn't the same ESPN that we liked a while back, when they previously had hockey.

I actually quit watching ESPN after they dropped hockey back then...especially when they started to air poker as a f-ing sport...really?

I don't know if I will go back...I just can't get over the poker thing

plus, as of tomorrow, we are no longer tied to the Cable...it is all streaming at the house. Any suggestions for hockey streaming?

Ya I hear you. It seems so long ago too. I still have a cable package, so I'm not to up on streaming games, unfortunately. I'm sure someone on here can chime in.

Just finished up watching Van/Win. Canucks really took a step back this year. I didn't expect that. At least Winnipeg is at least looking better, going into playoffs. Nice shutty by Hellebuyck. I hope they beat Oilers.

Have you ever played no-limit Texas Holdem? It’s brutal man. Once lost a girlfriend in a game like that, thought I had the best hand and up comes a full house. Still feel a little bad about that but it was her or my truck.

Few things in these playoffs would make me happier than for Hellebuyck to brick wall the 100 point savior.

If Price shows up like he's five years younger it might happen.

That would be epic, for a multitude of reasons lol.

Not happening. They had their lucky run last year when they beat the Pens (well deserved) but they are a bubble team and nothing more. I do not see that upset happening. Price hasn't even played and when he has, he hasn't been great (not bad though either). If Allen has to play, he's been ok but that team in general is just mediocre, all around.
